A police car is parked near the scene of a reported homicide at the Washington Estates Manufactured Home Community in northern Ogden on Thursday, June 19, 2025.OGDEN — The Ogden City Police Department has released the identity of a woman who was fatally stabbed outside her home on June 19, allegedly by her son.
The woman has been identified as Jennifer Martinez, 48 — the mother of 25-year-old Alec Conrad Martinez, who was arrested that afternoon on suspicion of aggravated murder, a first-degree felony, and disarming a police officer of an energy device, a third-degree felony. He is currently being held without bail at the Weber County Jail.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, dispatchers received what was described as a “frantic” call from a woman who was screaming, “He has a knife,” at around 1 p.m. The woman also screamed “Alec” multiple times and commotions could be heard before the woman stopped responding. Eventually, a male got on the line and reportedly told dispatchers, “I think I killed my mom.”
While dispatch was unable to obtain additional information, police ultimately traced the phone’s location and responded to the scene at the Washington Estates Manufactured Home Community, located near 1450 N. Washington Blvd.
Per the arrest document, Alec Martinez exited the home after officers arrived, while in possession of a bloody knife. After initially refusing to relinquish the knife, he eventually complied with officers’ commands, tossed the weapon onto the ground and was placed under arrest. However, he allegedly grabbed a Taser and attempted to remove it from an officer’s belt as he was being placed into the back of a patrol car.
Following a brief struggle, officers were able to remove his hands from the device and transport him, according to the affidavit.
The woman was found on the porch with severe lacerations to her neck and other areas of her body, “consistent with injuries from a knife,” per the arrest document. Medical aid was immediately given, after which the woman was transported to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
In a Tuesday update on the case, OPD also advised residents experiencing domestic abuse to contact authorities and seek help.
“The Ogden City Police Department asks anyone who is involved in a domestic violence/abuse situation to report the incident to their local police departments or reach out to the YCC Family Crisis Center for help and additional resources at (801) 394-9456.”
