Ricardo Rojel Trujillo was listed as the suspect in an Amber Alert by the Riverdale Police Department on Monday, March 24, 2025.

RIVERDALE — An Amber Alert issued Monday evening for two children who police said were feared to be in “imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death” was canceled approximately three hours later after the man suspected of taking them was apprehended, according to media reports.

Citing information obtained by Riverdale Police Chief Casey Warren, Fox 13 reported that the missing children — identified as Angie and Ricardo Trujillo, ages 2 and 3 — were located safely around 8 p.m. along with their father, Ricardo Rojel Trujillo, 29, who is alleged to have fled with them after starting a fire at the home of their mother, whose body reportedly was found inside the structure.

Police issued the alert at about 5:15 p.m., stating that the older Trujillo was in custody of the children and last had been seen in a white business truck around 2:45 p.m. The alert described him as being a “possible homicide and arson suspect” but gave no further details about the alleged crimes.

Messages left with Riverdale police were not returned.

According to Fox 13, officers responded Monday to a house fire near 5100 S. 1050 West in Riverdale and reportedly found an unnamed woman dead inside. The fire and woman’s death were said to be suspicious.

Warren told the station that the trio were later found in Springville Canyon in Utah County, with the children said to be safe and set to be reunited with family, and Trujillo in custody and under police questioning.
