HARRISVILLE — Fire crews from multiple Weber County departments responded to a structure fire at 2458 N. U.S. Highway 89 in Harrisville on Wednesday evening.

Deputy Chief Fire Marshal Ryan Barker of the North View Fire District told the Standard-Examiner that units were called to the scene at approximately 9:10 p.m., noting that smoke and flames were visible from as far as 2 miles away. According to Barker, the fire occurred at a mechanical shop and no one was injured during the after-hours blaze, which was successfully contained.

North View’s crew was joined at the scene by units from Weber Fire District and the Ogden Fire Department.

“We knew we had a working incident on arrival,” Barker said. “Ladder 21 (from North View) set up for aerial operations and put their ladder up in the air. We got our water and then started extinguishing the fire with the ladder truck and then used a couple of hand lines just to finish it off at the end.”

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, according to Barker, who noted that the incident is currently under investigation.
