ROY — Multiple officers with the Roy City Police Department have been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation of an alleged sexual assault occurring last week at a Salt Lake County ski resort.

Per a release from the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a “medical emergency” at Snowbird Resort on the night of May 14. The incident is being investigated as a sexual assault, according to the release.

Sgt. Josh Taylor of Roy PD confirmed to the Standard-Examiner that four officers with his department have been placed on leave as a result of their alleged involvement in the incident.

“As soon as we were made aware of the allegations against the officers, they were placed on administrative leave,” Taylor said. “Our officers, as well as the police department itself, are cooperating with the investigation of the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office.”

Added Taylor: “If the investigation determines that there was any violation of policy or statute, that’s something we definitely take very seriously.”

No other information has been made available by officials in Salt Lake County or Roy, and an investigation of the incident is ongoing.

Starting at $4.32/week.
