Man killed in Roy after allegedly confronting car burglars, two arrested

A man was killed in Roy after allegedly confronting car burglars, according to a press release on Sunday from the Roy City Police Department.
Two individuals have been arrested and charged with a number of crimes, including murder.
On Saturday, police responded to the area of 4200 S Westlake Drive after a report of a gunshot. A 58-year-old male was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was treated by first responders and taken to a local hospital, but ended up dying of his wounds.
The Roy City Police Department is requesting the public’s aid in gathering evidence, including having residents in the area check security camera footage for suspicious behavior.

“On January 25, 2026, officers from the Roy City Police Department and surrounding agencies responded to the area of 4200 S Westlake Drive on a reported gunshot wound. It was reported that two individuals were confronted about burglarizing vehicles in the area. At some point during the confrontation one shot was fired and the suspects ran from the scene.
“Officers arriving on scene located a 58 year old male with a gunshot wound to the chest. The male was treated by first responders on scene before being transported to an area hospital. Despite efforts at the hospital the male did not survive his injuries.
“A male suspect was located a distance from the crime scene and was taken into custody. The second male was located at his home in a neighboring city. One suspect was transported and booked into the Weber County Correctional Facility for Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Restricted Person, and Obstruction of Justice. This investigation is ongoing.
“The Roy City Police Department is asking any residents in the area to check any camera footage for any suspicious activity. If you find that your vehicle was burglarized or you have any video camera footage please contact the Roy City Police Department through Weber Dispatch at 801-395-8221.”
