ROY — A Roy man has been charged in 2nd District Court in a stabbing that seriously injured a man more that two years ago.

Guadalupe Telley Trujillo, 21, has been issued a summons to make an initial court appearance Aug. 31. The Weber County Attorney’s Office has charged him with second-degree felony aggravated assault, serious bodily injury.

Charging documents said Trujillo allegedly stabbed the man outside a Roy residence on Jan. 7, 2020. The abdominal stabbing required emergency surgery and blood transfusions.

Trujillo and the man had been arguing by text messages and Trujillo went to the man’s apartment. The man reported he went outside and saw several people, then Trujillo running toward him.

“The next thing he knew, he thought he had been punched,” the Roy Police Department probable cause statement said. “He punched (Trujillo) back, but immediately felt something wet on his side and realized he had been stabbed.”

Police said Trujillo admitted he was at the man’s apartment, but he denied any physical altercation and said he did not see any assault occur.

Trujillo was booked at the Weber County Jail on Wednesday and released pending court appearances. His attorney, Stephen Spencer, has filed a discovery request for voluminous items of evidence related to the incident and the investigation.

Efforts to contact the Roy Police Department were not immediately successful.
