Perry residents Ryan Wood and K’Dee Wood, both 37, made their initial appearances in Brigham City’s 1st District Court on Monday. According to court documents, the couple is accused of performing multiple sex acts on an acquaintance who was unconscious and unable to give consent following a dinner at their residence.
Ryan Wood has been charged with forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony, as well as forcible sodomy and object rape, both first-degree felonies. Additionally, he has been charged with multiple counts of prohibited dangerous firearm conduct, a third-degree felony; use or possession of a controlled substance and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, both class B misdemeanors; and second-degree felony obstruction of justice.
K’Dee Wood, meanwhile, has been charged with forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony, as well as accomplice to forcible sodomy and accomplice to object rape, both first-degree felonies. She also faces the same weapon and drug charges.
According to arrest documents, the victim — who had reportedly known the Woods since about 2017 — was invited to their house for a dinner on May 2, during which alcohol was consumed. The documents allege that the couple was known by the victim to be in an open relationship, and that the victim had stated previously that she was not interested in participating in their activities.
Despite her previous objections, the victim allegedly regained consciousness at various points throughout the night after having blacked out to find herself being sexually assaulted by the Woods. The next morning, she was dropped off at her home, according to arrest documents.
After the victim reported the incident to police, she made a phone call to K’Dee Wood at the Perry City Office while detectives listened in. According to arrest documents, Wood admitted that both she and her husband had performed sex acts on the victim and confirmed other details of the incident during the monitored call.
Police later obtained and executed a search warrant for the Woods’ residence, during which weapons, drugs and related paraphernalia were allegedly found. Investigators also retrieved electronic devices, including cellphones. Messages between Ryan Wood and others referencing the alleged assault were found on the phones, per the arrest documents, which further state that “the suspects were found deleting evidence” after being notified of the allegations and search warrant.
The Woods’ next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 18.
