Bomb squad summoned to investigate suspicious package at Lorin Farr Park

The Ogden Police Department later announced that the package was determined not to be an explosive device.OGDEN — Parts of Ogden’s Lorin Farr Park were temporarily closed Tuesday as the Ogden Police Department investigated a suspicious package.
“Ogden Police are currently investigating a suspicious package located at Lorin Farr Park,” read a post on the Ogden City Police Department Facebook page around 2:17 p.m. “Out of an abundance of caution, the park has been temporarily closed while the Davis County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad responds to investigate.”
The public was asked to avoid the area while the investigation proceeded.
The Standard-Examiner observed a bomb squad robot investigating a package that was eventually wheeled over to waiting officers. The police presence in the park began dispersing shortly after 3:30 p.m.
“The Davis County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad has completed their investigation of the suspicious package at Lorin Farr Park,” an update on the original Facebook post read. “The item was determined not to be an explosive device. The park and surrounding traffic areas have been reopened, and all normal activities may now resume.”
The Standard-Examiner reached out to the Ogden City Police Department for further information but received no response before press time.
