Video: Damian Lillard debuts ‘Baby Dame DOLLA’ rapping in bizarre State Farm ad
Damian Lillard’s debut rap album as Dame DOLLA is still in the works, but the basketball star’s other profession has already taken its next step.
State Farm Insurance launched a new ad campaign called “Meet the Hoopers” on Christmas Day 2015. The series of spots features Lillard as the baby in a family played by NBA stars — Chris Paul as the father, DeAndre Jordan the mother, Kevin Garnett a grandpa and Kevin Love as a son.
Lillard’s and Love’s heads are edited onto smaller bodies, of course, to sell the story.
The latest ad in the series takes a strange step forward, launching the baby’s rap career with “Droppin’ Dimes,” a song about how their State Farm agent saves the family money using a convenient basketball term for assists.
From his stroller alongside Love, Baby Dame raps lyrics full of references to domestic life and basketball. “He be smellin’ savings, they all up in the air,” Baby Dame raps about Grandpa Garnett, “he be droppin’ dimes on the honey bear.”

A previous “Meet the Hoopers” ad has a State Farm agent explain insurance coverage to a panicked Mom Jordan, who feared her rings had been stolen — leading to the inevitable joke about how Jordan has no rings, or no NBA championships.
