BYU and Utah will face off even earlier than last year for their football rivalry game often called the “Holy War,” despite previous comments from Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark indicating the rivalry could move to the end of the season — as is custom for in-conference rivalries.
The Cougars and Utes played on Nov. 9 during the 2024 season. In 2025’s matchup in Provo, the game is slated for Oct. 18 after the Big 12 Conference released its slate of conference games Tuesday.
BYU, which went 11-2 in 2024 after a bowl win over Colorado, opens with two nonconference home games before an independence-era holdover trip to East Carolina. In league play, BYU hosts West Virginia, Utah, TCU and UCF. Its five Big 12 road games are Colorado, Arizona, Iowa State, Texas Tech and Cincinnati.
Utah, looking to bounce back after a 5-7 season, opens at UCLA and also travels to Wyoming. For its five Big 12 home games, the Utes host Texas Tech, Arizona State, Colorado, Cincinnati and Kansas State. On the road, Utah goes to West Virginia, BYU, Baylor and Kansas.
