Syracuse High's Maylee Anderson, center right, handles the basketball against Pleasant Grove during a 6A second-round playoff game Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, in Syracuse.

The timetable for Northern Utah high school basketball leaves just a couple of weeks left before the regular season officially tips off later this month.

Among several enthralling storylines, Syracuse reloads while defending its 2025 All-Area Team of the Year status, and Roy welcomes a familiar face in former star Josie Williams.

A midweek marathon begins Wednesday, Nov. 19, with six local, non-region matchups: Davis at APA Draper; Weber vs. Cyprus; Bonneville vs. Kearns; Clearfield at Copper Hills; Roy at Juan Diego; West Field at Bear River. All games tip off at 7 p.m.

NORTHERN UTAH GIRLS BASKETBALL PRESEASON WATCH LIST

Abigail Christensen | SF/SG | Jr. | Fremont

Defending Region 1 MVP Christensen (16.5 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.6 apg) is poised for another big step after leading the region in scoring (top 25 in the state) a year ago. As Fremont realigns to a new-look Region 5, Christensen leads another young Silverwolves team alongside returning juniors Olivia Surrage and Mia McArthur from last year’s 21-4 campaign.

Christensen currently has interest from Weber State, Utah Valley, Utah State, San Jose State, Southern Utah and Lafayette.

Fremont tips off the season at Payson on Thursday, Nov. 20.

T’Maea Eteuati | PG/G | Sr. | Davis

Committed to Colgate, Eteuati (16.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 3.0 spg, 1.9 apg) is another top 25 bucket returning to the Region 1 fray following last year’s 17-7 run that 6 and 7 seeds, Davis and Lone Peak, shape the 6A state semifinals in Salt Lake City. No, Eteuati’s junior season didn’t result in a state title, but much of that young roster is expected to return in Nicole Waddoups’ second season as head coach.

Davis tips off the season at Draper APA on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Maylee Anderson | SG/PG | Sr. | Syracuse

A 20-4 finish to Braden Hamblin’s seventh season as Syracuse’s head coach certainly felt like a high mark, and Anderson played a pretty important role in helping the Titans earn the title of 2025’s All-Area Girls Basketball Team of the Year.

Anderson (14.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.1 apg, 2.5 spg) returns atop a talented senior class – including the likes of Rachel McBride and Olivia Sorensen – eager to build upon the new bar set a year ago. Last year, Anderson’s 16.6 points per 32 minutes ranked seventh in the state.

Syracuse tips off the season at Roy on Friday, Nov. 21.

Bradey Schiffman | F | So. | Weber

Schiffman’s breakout freshman season included a region-best 8.5 rebounds per game (197 total) in addition to 7.3 points and 1.5 assists per game for the Warriors. She’d break into double figures five different times last season, and returns as a must-have paint piece for a Weber program looking to improve upon an 11-13 finish.

Weber tips off the season hosting Cyprus on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Baya Jimenez | G | Jr. | Bonneville

Jimenez (11.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 3.3 spg, 3.0 apg) brightened up a 5-19 Lakers campaign last season, and she’ll be crucial to steadying the ship as coach Johnny Caine approaches his fifth season on the job.

Bonneville tips off the season hosting Kearns on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Isabelle Wyaskett| PG | Sr. | Clearfield

Wyaskett and the Falcons are due for one last ride.

The 5-foot-4 senior point guard achieved All-Area First Team status for a second time last season, as the Falcons finished 17-7 overall with an early exit from the 5A state tournament. Wyaskett (13.0 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 4.2 spg, 3.4 apg) and eight more seniors are lining Clearfield up for a deeper run this time around.

Clearfield tips off the season at Copper Hills on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Rihanna May | G | Jr. | Roy

May (9.9 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.0 spg) was the main attraction for an 8-19 Royals team a year ago, but she’ll be crucial to the rebuild in former Royals star Josie Williams’ first season as head coach. May eclipsed double figures seven times a season ago, including a double-double (18 points and 12 rebounds) vs. Bonneville.

Roy tips off the season at Juan Diego on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Kylee Mueller | C | Sr. | West Field

The loss of seniors Canyon Britt and Jalyn Coombs can’t be understated, but Mueller (7.2 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.2 spg) gives the Longhorns, now realigned locally with Region 5, an experienced name in the paint as coach Rick Stoeckl returns for a season.

West Field tips off the season at Bear River on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Zoe Rockenfield | G | So. | Morgan

Rockenfield (9.6 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 3.0 apg, 2.5 spg) appeared in all 26 games as a freshman at Morgan, and returns the most production from a deep postseason run and 14-12 finish a year ago. She’ll be doing so without the helping hand of 2025 graduate and All-Area Player of the Year Eva Birkeland, currently hooping at the College of Southern Idaho.

Morgan tips off the season at Mountain Crest on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

Payton Huff | G | So. | Ben Lomond

Huff (8.7 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.2 spg) is another Region 12 sophomore to watch, albeit under far different circumstances with a Scots program that’s hungry for growth following a 2-20 finish to coach Aaron VanBeekum’s second season.

BL tips off the season hosting Maeser Prep on Thursday, Nov. 11, 20.

Salote Tonga | C | Sr. | Ogden

Tonga (9.1 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.0 bpg, 1.o spg) proved herself a tough part of the Ogden scouting report last season, and the 6-foot-1 center certainly helps the Tigers’ ambitions for a winning record in coach Andy Blodgett’s fourth season.

Ogden tips off the season at Timpanogos on Thursday, Nov. 20.
