If you timed it right, four Roy alums alone might’ve easily graced your television set between three different college matchups on Saturday.
Here are a handful of notable Week 5 performances with ties to local programs:
Parker Kingston, WR, BYU: As expected, Kingston found himself in Kalani Sitake’s Big 12-opener blueprint during a narrow 24-21 road win at Colorado on Saturday. Kingston checked four boxes in Boulder: completing five passes for 38 yards, rushing twice for an average of 12.5 yards per carry, returning a punt for 12 yards and even logging two passing attempts in the shadow of starter Bear Bachmeier (19 for 27 attempts, 179 yards, 2 touchdowns).
Colby Frokjer, P, Montana State: The folks in Bozeman, Montana, certainly took an interest in Frokjer’s punting abilities at Roy, but word of his track prowess evidently made its way out there, too. Frokjer took his lone carry 26 yards for a touchdown and a 36-3 lead on Eastern Washington early in the third quarter. The West Haven native only had to punt twice (totaling 76 yards) and put one of those inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.
Robert Young, WR, Weber State: Young, more affectionately known by Standard-Examiner readership as “Touchdown Bob,” joined a band of locals on Weber’s fall camp roster last month and officially registered his first stats as a Wildcat on Saturday, returning a kickoff (18 yards) and a punt (10 yards) during a 34-12 loss at UC Davis. Largely underevaluated as a high school senior, Young briefly signed with Idaho State before ultimately opting for Ogden in his first year of eligibility.
Jaxson Fresques, WR, Sacramento State: The former Northridge High quarterback, and son of current Knights head coach Andrew Fresques, continues to stamp his name in the special teams column for the Hornets. True freshman Fresques returned two punts for 37 yards (his longest being 23) and returned a kickoff for just 3 yards during a 32-24 loss to Cal Poly at home on Saturday. Back in Utah, Fresques’ prep alma mater completed a 23-point rally to defeat West Field 42-38 during Northridge’s annual Cancer Awareness Night.
Justin Kirkland, DT, BYU: A product of the late Fred Fernandes era at Roy, Kirkland returned to BYU in May after starting in seven of his 26 appearances at Oklahoma State in 2024 after beginning his career at Utah Tech. Kirkland recorded his first solo tackle as a Cougar versus Colorado on Saturday.
Elijah Elliss, LB, Utah: Elliss, the son of Utah defensive tackles coach and former Utes All-American Luther Elliss, recorded the first solo tackle of his 2025 campaign during a 48-14 win over West Virginia on Saturday in Morgantown. The Layton Christian alum appeared in four Big 12 contests a year ago during his first season in Salt Lake City.
Kash Gates, WR, Weber State: Gates logged his first reception (6 yards) as a Wildcat at UC Davis on Saturday. The former Davis High standout returned to Ogden for his second season.
