The crowd at Moda Center was on its feet when the guard wearing “The Letter O” was introduced in Portland as a Trail Blazer for the first time since March 19, 2023.

Fans erupted when Damian Lillard knocked down his first 3-pointer in his first NBA game in 542 days, and generally enjoyed a night-long party as Portland buried the Phoenix Suns with a 21-0 run to start the game on the way to a 124-83 victory Wednesday night.

Lillard finished with 25 points in 24 minutes and sat for all of the fourth quarter. It was his first action since tearing his Achilles tendon on April 27, 2025, during the first round of the playoffs with Milwaukee.

The Weber State legend and 14-year NBA veteran finished 7 of 12 from the field, including a 6-of-10 mark from the 3-point line. Lillard hit consecutive 3s late in the first quarter, the second a deep step-back that made the score 38-8.

Lillard had 12 points to start his 901st regular-season game and put Portland ahead 43-12 at the quarter break.

Wednesday’s game was also the Blazers debut of two-time All-Star Ja Morant, who started in the backcourt with Lillard. The eighth-year guard totaled 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting, adding eight assists, five rebounds and three steals.

Deni Avdija and Toumani Camara each scored 18 points for Portland, with Avdija grabbing 10 rebounds, and Scoot Henderson added 15 points off the bench.

Devin Booker led a contingent of three double-digit Phoenix scorers with 23 points.

Lillard and the Blazers soon have a date in Salt Lake City during a busy Halloween of sports in Utah. In the same 1 p.m. hour that Weber State football hosts UC Davis, BYU hosts Arizona State, Utah State hosts Colorado State and Utah kicks off at Cincinnati, Portland will tip off against the Jazz in the Delta Center as one of many matinees during the holiday.
