Prep notebook: Northridge guard Sivulich commits to SLCC; Bonneville hires new AD

(BRIAN WOLFER, Special to the Standard-Examiner)Northridge High boys basketball guard Sam Sivulich announced Wednesday that he’s verbally committed to Salt Lake Community College, whose men’s basketball team just finished a 35-2 season and finished as the national runner-up at the junior college level.
Sivulich averaged 21.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.6 steals per game on 40.7% shooting with 54 made 3-pointers this season, according to stats provided by the team.
Sivulich publicly reported offers from Utah State University-Eastern, College of Southern Idaho and Umpqua Community College (Oregon).
Also in Davis County, Layton High wing Connor Wilson posted on Twitter that he is verbally committed to Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay, Oregon.
Davis High post Cole Mullen signed with Green River College in Auburn, Washington, earlier this month, according to Mullen’s Twitter page.
WATSON COMMITS TO CORNELL
Salt Lake Community College men’s basketball shooting guard Max Watson, a Box Elder High alumnus, announced he’ll continue playing college basketball at Cornell University in the Ivy League next season.
Watson reported an offer from New Jersey Institute of Technology last year. He was recruited out of Box Elder by a couple Division I programs, then opted for SLCC when he returned from his mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In 2021, a season truncated by COVID-19, Watson averaged 8.9 points per game and shot 42.4% from the field in 23 games. This past season, Watson averaged 8.1 ppg in 36 games, shooting 44% from the field and 39.8% from 3-point range.
BONNEVILLE HIRES NEW AD
Bonneville High this week hired Rick Corbridge as its new athletic director, replacing Lance Mimnaugh. It’s a full-time athletic director position with no teaching role, according to the Weber School District.
Corbridge was previously the school’s AD and a teacher at Bonneville until he stepped down in 2018 to take a job outside of education.
VIEWMONT PICKS NEW COACH
Cameron Gardner is the new girls basketball head coach at Viewmont High, athletic director Jeff Emery said Wednesday.
Gardner is a Box Elder High and Utah State alumnus who most recently was the head girls basketball coach at Hunter High.
