Box Elder senior wrestler Bridger Ricks won his fourth individual championship at the BEHS-hosted Richardson Memorial tournament over the weekend.

Ricks, wrestling at 120 pounds, pinned his first three opponents of the tournament, then defeated Mountain Crest’s Easton Evans by major decision (13-5) in the final.

Ricks had six takedowns in the match. According to the school, Ricks became the second wrestler in nearly 50 years to win the Richardson Memorial four times.

Ricks, whose record improved to 24-0, will wrestle at Tuesday’s All-Star Duals in Orem and later this season will attempt to win a fourth consecutive state wrestling championship.

Three Morgan High wrestlers took home titles at the tournament in the lower weight categories, helping the Trojans to a second-place finish as a team with 192 points, slightly behind champion Westlake’s total of 203.5 points.

Freshman Drew Korth won at 113 pounds when he beat Westlake’s Parker Ballantyne 9-3 in the finals match.

Will Korth, a senior, scored a 12-0 major decision win against Mountain Crest’s Luke Schroeder to win the 126-pound championship. Korth led 8-0 after the first period.

Morgan’s Blake Woolsey won the 132-pound title with a 7-5 decision win against Westlake’s Brayden Robison. Woolsey led 7-1 with 22 seconds left in the third period before Robison scored a reversal and a near fall, nearly pinning Woolsey at the end to win.

Syracuse 165-pounder Jordan Faifai stayed unbeaten (24-0) by winning his weight class championship, defeating Joe Thompson from Star Valley (Wyoming) by major decision (9-1). Faifai helped the Titans take sixth as a team with 117 points.
