Prep roundup: Layton Christian boys basketball runs past Ogden
Layton Christian boys basketball played its first region game since moving up to the 3A classification, and Wednesday night’s result mirrored many Eagles region games over the past decade.
LCA led Ogden 40-9 at halftime and won 81-33. Five players scored in double figures for the Eagles (7-5, 1-0 Region 13), led by Isaac Cubero’s 15 points.
Otavio Armani scored 14 points, Sammy Ishimwe added 13, Souleymane Barro had 13 with a 3-for-3 mark from the foul line, and Tyrese Lacey scored 10 for LCA.
Cubero made three 3-pointers and Wednesday was LCA’s first game of the season against a 3A school after a non-region schedule filled with 6A, 5A and out-of-state teams.
Alex Howard and Ozzy Norton each scored eight points to lead Ogden (6-6, 0-1). Norton hit two 3-pointers.
LCA is scheduled to host Ben Lomond on Friday night while Ogden is scheduled to visit South Summit.
