Prep roundup: Fremont High baseball whacks Davis, clinches Region 1 title

KAYSVILLE — Fremont High baseball clinched the Region 1 title with a 15-1 win Tuesday at Davis.

Calvin Morrow homered and drove in four for Fremont (19-1, 13-0 Region 1). Bodee Goins batted 4 for 5 and drove in two. Peyton Surrage doubled and had three RBIs. Logan Penland double and drove in two, and Gavin Douglas tripled.

Bridger Clontz pitched a complete-game, three-hitter with 12 strikeouts.

Wally Grant hit a double for Davis (10-10, 7-6). Tyson Elkins and Trey Talbot each singled.

WEBER 9, CLEARFIELD 1

CLEARFIELD — Dominic Salerno batted 3 for 5 and drove in two for Weber in a region win.

Bode Larson batted 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs for Weber (8-12, 4-9 Region 1). Luke Erickson had two hits and Jaxson Coleman drove in two. Larson pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts.

Jackson Yamashita batted 2 for 3 with a double for Clearfield (5-15, 2-11). Devan Harmer drove in one.

ROY 15, WEST 13

SALT LAKE CITY — Teyo Gil batted 3 for 3 with two home runs, a double and five RBIs to lead Roy to a region win at West.

Matthew Porm batted 3 for 4 with a double for Roy (9-11, 7-6 Region 2). Cragun McCloy went 2 for 3 with a double and Tyler Clark hit a double. Ryder Williams and Conner Munoz each drove in two. Justin Miller earned the win in two innings of relief.

FARMINGTON 12, SYRACUSE 2

SYRACUSE — Luke Workman batted 4 for 4 with a double and three RBIs to lead Farmington to a region win.

Tucker Wall batted 2 for 4 and drove in two for Farmington (14-8, 10-6 Region 1). Park Romney and Caleb Takemori each drove in two. Mason Cook hit a double. Landon Tanner earned the win with three hits allowed, seven walks and four strikeouts in five innings.

Tatum Martin batted 2 for 3 for Syracuse (5-15, 5-8). Wyatt Humphrey hit an RBI double.

BOX ELDER 10, BONNEVILLE 0

BRIGHAM CITY — Braden Merrill pitched a complete-game shutout to lead Box Elder.

Tommy Greer batted 2 for 4 with three RBIs for Box Elder (8-12, 3-7 Region 5). Ashton Burton batted 2 for 3 with a double. KJ Argyle and Jace Robinson each hit 2 for 3.

Evan Cunningham batted 2 for 3 for Bonneville (3-14, 0-10) and Kole Story hit a double.

VIEWMONT 12, NORTHRIDGE 11 (9)

BOUNTIFUL — Viewmont scored three in the seventh inning to force extra innings, then walked it off in the ninth.

Luke Jacobs hit 3 for 5 with a triple, a double and two RBIs for Viewmont (12-5, 8-2 Region 5). Tate Gamble hit 3 for 4 with two RBIs.

Jory Durrant hit 2 for 4 with two RBIs for Northridge (9-9, 4-6). Jace Olsen, Landen Crisler and Tytan Redd drove in two runs each.

BOUNTIFUL 8, WOODS CROSS 7

BOUNTIFUL — Drew Beck hit a home run and a double to lead Bountiful to a series-opening win over Woods Cross.

Hank Tippetts had three RBIs with a double for Bountiful (13-7, 7-3 Region 5). Truman Duryea got the win in six innings pitched and reached base three times with a hit and two walks.

Taylor Ayala batted 3 for 4 with a double for Woods Cross (14-6, 8-2). Jack Bell doubled and had an RBI. Dax Weierman hit an RBI triple and Blake Stanger drove in two.

SOFTBALL

FREMONT 11, LAYTON 1

LAYTON — Haddie Hadley and Savannah Palmatier each had two hits and two RBIs to lead Fremont in a five-inning win.

Reata O’Neal drew three walks and scored two runs for Fremont (15-3, 9-1 Region 1). Brinley Ellsworth pitched a complete game with six strikeouts.

Brenley Boydston batted 3 for 3 with a double and one RBI for Layton (8-12, 5-5).

WEBER 2, SYRACUSE 1

PLEASANT VIEW — Eden Jensen and Claire Bailey each had two hits for Weber, who scored twice in the second inning to win.

Hadley Howell hit a double for Weber (12-8, 8-2 Region 1). Kendall Strasburg hit an RBI triple and pitched a complete-game, three-hitter for the win.

Erin Anderson drove in the Syracuse (5-16, 1-9) run.

BONNEVILLE 16, NORTHRIDGE 6

LAYTON — Emmaline DeGroot batted 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs as Bonneville raced to a win.

DeGroot also threw a five-inning complete game for Boneville (18-4, 7-2 Region 5). Brityn Buchanan homered and had three RBIs. Anna Healy went 3 for 3 with a double and four RBIs. Baylee Andreasen hit two doubles and drove in three.

Anairi Fonoti-Maikui batted 3 for 3 with two RBIs for Northridge (11-10, 3-6). Grace Gamble hit a double.

BEN LOMOND 18, APA-DRAPER 3

OGDEN — Dorothy Jenson hit a home run, a double and drove in four to lead Ben Lomond on Monday.

Dawnavin Frye added a triple and four RBIs for Ben Lomond (5-12). Marley McMillen and Elliot Hauser each batted 2 for 3 with a double. Reagan Wilcox picked up the win with five strikeouts in three relief innings.

DAVIS 9, CLEARFIELD 5

CLEARFIELD — Larkyn Robinson batted 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs to lead Davis (9-12, 3-8 Region 1). Abby Olsen homered and drove in four. Avery Kartchner had a double and an RBI. Ellie Black pitched five innings for the win.

Miranda Mansfield batted 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI for Clearfield (4-12, 2-9). Carlee Shock added a double.

BOUNTIFUL 16, VIEWMONT 1

BOUNTIFUL — Bountiful claimed at least a share of the Region 5 championship, the Redhawks’ fourth consecutive region crown.

Eva Stoddard and Athena Tongaonevai each batted 2 for 2 with a double, two RBIs, three runs scored and two walks for Bountiful (14-4-1, 8-0 Region 5). Malissa Turpin and Frankie Galeana each added two hits. Stoddard pitched a four-inning complete game with two hits and six strikeouts.

Lily Hawker hit a double and Anna Moore singled for Viewmont (12-9, 3-6).

BOX ELDER 8, WOODS CROSS 3

WOODS CROSS — Maygen-Raye Kaleikini batted 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs to lead Box Elder (15-10, 5-3 Region 5). Ashley Hammers went 2 for 3 and drove in two. Kamryn Peterson hit 2 for 4 with one RBI. Hammers earned the win in 4 2/3 innings.

Noa Latu batted 2 for 3 with a double and one RBI for Woods Cross (7-13, 0-9). Ali Ebberts batted 2 for 2.
