Prep roundup: Farmington cross country teams sweep Region 1 championships

LAYTON — Farmington High swept the Region 1 cross country championships at Layton Commons Park on Tuesday.

The region crowns are the Phoenix girls’ fourth consecutive and the boys’ fifth straight titles, and 2022 was the fourth straight FHS region-title sweep.

Layton High’s Hailey Low won the girls individual championship for the second year in a row, and Farmington’s Spencer Bradshaw won the boys race for his fourth first-place finish of the season.

LAYTON — Aimee Larsen dished out 34 assists as Davis won in straight sets at Layton. Scores were 25-23, 25-9, 25-15.

Aubrey Nielson tallied 11 kills and four blocks for Davis (18-6, 6-2 Region 1). Cambria White served three acres with 11 digs and Brinley Bush added 11 digs.

Layton (3-15, 0-9) did not report stats.

OGDEN 3, BEN LOMOND 0

OGDEN — Ogden swept Ben Lomond behind a 25-1 second set. Other set scores were 25-11 and 25-7.

Rees Bockwoldt paced Ogden (15-5, 7-1 Region 13) with five kills and three aces. Soledad VanOrden added five kills and nine aces. Olivia Blackford tallied three digs and 14 aces.

Ben Lomond (1-17, 0-7 Region 13) did not report stats.

NORTHRIDGE 3, BONNEVILLE 0

LAYTON — Kate Tueller tallied 13 kills and served five aces to lead Northridge (16-2, 5-1 Region 5) to a sweep of Bonneville. Set scores were 25-19, 25-22, 25-21.

Bonneville (5-13, 0-6) did not report stats.

FARMINGTON 3, CLEARFIELD 0

FARMINGTON — Farmington swept Clearfield by scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-15.

Lydia Schwemmer tallied seven kills and 10 digs for Farmington (13-9, 5-4 Region 1). Sophie Wendt had 30 assists, 14 digs and one block. Laina Whitney totaled five kills and four blocks while Marissa Marchant added seven kills and one block.

Clearfield (8-17, 2-7) did not report stats.

BOUNTIFUL 3, VIEWMONT 0

BOUNTIFUL — Jordyn Harvey tallied 16 kills, 10 digs and two blocks as Bountiful (17-0, 6-0 Region 5) swept Viewmont (8-10, 3-3) by scores of 25-21, 25-12, 25-19.

Claire Cook added 11 kills, two aces and seven digs for Bountiful. Evalyn Chism tallied 31 assists, three aces, four kills and three blocks.

OGDEN — Cicily Flores kept a clean sheet and St. Joseph scored all three goals in the second half of a home win over Waterford that keeps the Jayhawks in first place in the 2A North region.

Abigail Gough had a goal and an assist for St. Joseph (9-2, 7-0 2A North). Alexsen Willardsen and Alex Walker also netted. Emilia Pinchak had an assist.
