Prep roundup: Bunn repeats as R5 boys golf medalist; Bonneville soccer finishes unbeaten

SYRACUSE — Bonneville High junior golfer Parker Bunn shot an 8-under-par 64 on Thursday to win medalist honors at the Region 5 boys golf championship at Glen Eagle Golf Course. Bunn helped the Lakers to a third-place finish as a team, one shot behind Box Elder. Bunn also won medalist honors in 2021.

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Sadie Beardall netted a hat trick as Bonneville (16-0, 10-0 Region 5) beat Northridge (9-6, 4-6) to finish the regular season with a perfect record.

ROY 1, KEARNS 0 (2OT)

ROY — Jaelyn Barba scored on a Kambrie Buttars assist in the second session of extra time to send Roy (13-3, 12-0 Region 2) to a win at Kearns as the Royals finished the season with a perfect region record.

BEN LOMOND 3, SOUTH SUMMIT 1

KAMAS — Ben Lomond scored twice in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and grab a region win at South Summit on Wednesday to finish third place in Region 13.

Ariana Liptrap netted a hat trick for Ben Lomond (4-11, 4-4 Region 13) and Shakira Nolasco assisted all three goals.

FREMONT 4, WEBER 2

PLEASANT VIEW — Fremont took a 3-0 halftime lead in a region win at Weber.

Ashlyn Gwynn had a hat trick and an assist for Fremont (4-12, 4-8 Region 1). Kya Parke and Brooklyn Robinson each assisted one score.

AJ Heap had a goal and an assist for Weber (3-12, 2-10). Sami Horton also netted for the Warriors.

ST. JOSEPH 3, AM HERITAGE 0

AMERICAN FORK — St. Joseph scored twice in the first half in a region win at American Heritage.

Sofia Evans and Abigail Gough each had a goal and an assist for St. Joseph (8-2, 5-0 2A North). Kara Sugiyama netted and Ashley Ferguson added an assist.

CROSS COUNTRY

DAVIS DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP

LAYTON — Layton High’s Hailey Low and Northridge’s Will Luoma won the individual races at Wednesday’s Davis District Championship cross country meet in Layton.

The individual top finishers in the varsity girls race were, in order of finish: Low, Carli Nelson (Layton), Brynn Rees (Viewmont), Naomi Egnew (Viewmont), Skye Siddoway (Farmington), Gretchen Higley (Clearfield), Ella Miller (Farmington), Lexu Cluff-Baylon (Northridge), Taylor Miller (Farmington) and Lissie Hill (Northridge).

Farmington finished first in the team standings with 46 points as it had five runners finish 13th or better. Farmington was followed by Layton (80), Viewmont (82), Northridge (89), Bountiful (137), Syracuse (149), Clearfield (150), Davis (195) and Woods Cross (238).

On the boys side, Luoma (Northridge) won the race with a time of 13:52.77. He was followed by Andrew Jensen (Bountiful), Gave Hooper (Viewmont), Isaac Lundberg (Davis), Simon Barlow (Bountiful), Weston Egnew (Viewmont), Dalin Holje (Layton), Landon Sturgeon (Farmington), Jeff Qualls (Syracuse) and Carter Frost (Northridge).

Northridge was first in the team standings with 67 points, closely beating Bountiful (69) and Viewmont (73). Davis (106), Farmington (116), Layton (125), Syracuse (166), Woods Cross (170) and Clearfield (210) followed.

VOLLEYBALL

ROY 3, GRANGER 0

ROY — Roy swept Granger by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-21.

Kjerstin Waite led Roy (7-11, 6-2 Region 2) with 12 kills, six digs and one ace. Tess Terry added one kill and 16 digs.

FARMINGTON 3, DAVIS 0

KAYSVILLE — Farmington won in straight sets at Davis: 25-17, 25-20, 26-24.

Sophie Wendt led Farmington (12-9, 4-4 Region 1) with 13 kills, 18 assists, and 17 digs. Laina Whitney tallied six blocks and three kills. Ellie Pace added eight kills and three blocks.

Davis (17-6, 5-2) did not report stats.

BOUNTIFUL 3, BONNEVILLE 0

BOUNTIFUL — Bountiful beat Bountiful in straight sets: 25-6, 25-13, 25-10

Jordyn Harvey had 13 kills for Bountiful (16-0, 5-0 Region 5). Claire Cook tallied 11 kills and six digs and Taylor Harvey added eight kills. Evalyn Chism had 33 assists, three kills and two aces.

Bonneville (5-12, 0-5) did not report stats.

NORTHRIDGE 3, BOX ELDER 0

BRIGHAM CITY — Northridge swept Box Elder by scores of 25-23, 25-17, 25-20.

Claire Bailey led Northridge (15-2, 4-1 Region 5) with 14 kills. Chloe Williams served six aces.

Box Elder (10-11, 1-4) did not report stats.
