Prep basketball roundup: Fremont girls claim first win, boys top Viewmont
SANDY — Fremont High girls basketball outscored American Fork 11-0 in the fourth quarter on the way to a 48-37 win Thursday at Jordan High’s Beetdigger Classic.
Ama Herrick led Fremont (1-3) with 12 points and two 3-pointers. Kale Brian scored 10 points and Mia McArthur added six.

OREM — Davis led 34-16 at the half in a win at Timpview.
Kendra Kitchen led all scorers with 24 points and shot 6 of 6 from the foul line for Davis (5-0). T’Maea Eteuati added 16 points and made both of her free throws. Kate Richards scored 12 points with two 3-pointers and a 2-of-2 mark from the free-throw line.
LAYTON 48, CEDAR VALLEY 40
LAYTON — Layton broke into the win column with a home victory over Cedar Valley.
Avery Potter led all scorers with 18 points and three 3-pointers for Layton (1-5). Oakley Homer added 12 points.

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Bear River held Park City scoreless in the fourth quarter for a win in the Burchell Classic at Bonneville High.
Aubree Fry led Bear River (1-2) with 13 points and one 3-pointer. Angelie Delgado added five points and one trey.

OGDEN — Layton Christian won the first quarter 15-3 and cruised to beat Ben Lomond on Wednesday at Ogden High as part of the Burchell Classic.
Penelope Arroyo led LCA (2-4) with 18 points while shooting 3 of 3 from distance. Jessica McKain added nine points, four rebounds and three assists, and Ava Smith pulled down eight rebounds.
Dory Jenson totaled 10 points and five rebounds to lead Ben Lomond (3-2). Jazzy Tinajero added eight points, three rebounds and three assists. Ofa Arreguin had five rebounds.

OGDEN — Ogden held Park City to one point in the first quarter in a win Wednesday in the Burchell Classic.
Izzy Nestel led all scorers with 13 points and three 3-pointers for Ogden (2-2). Salote Tonga tallied eight points and Macy Vine added six.

BRIGHAM CITY — Jocelyn Vranes scored 14 points with two 3-pointers to lead Box Elder to a home win Wednesday over Mountain Crest.
Ashlyn Wight added 10 points for Box Elder (2-2). Kamri Andersen and Olivia Godfrey each scored nine points.

SANDY — Fremont was outscored 10-6 in the pivotal fourth quarter in a loss to Mountain Ridge at Jordan High’s Beetdigger Classic on Wednesday.
Jalyn Coombs, Ama Herrick and Canyon Britt each scored nine points for Fremont (0-3), with Coombs making two 3-pointers.

ROY — Nicole Williams scored 12 points and hauled in six rebounds as Roy dropped a home affair Wednesday to West Jordan.

Hunter Hansen led all scorers with 22 points and hauled in six rebounds for Fremont (4-1). Zach Masters tallied 16 points with four 3-pointers. Easton Duft dished out eight assists and Ryan Furgeson added six points, six boards and three blocks.

KAYSVILLE — Terik Hamblin scored 19 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the field to lead Syracuse past Woods Cross in the 6A-5A Challenge at Davis High.
Josh Godfrey added 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting and hauled in nine rebounds for Syracuse (2-1). Hudson Hess tallied eight points with one 3-pointer and Logan Goddard grabbed 11 boards.

SMITHFIELD — Bear River trailed 18-13 after one quarter, then outscored Cedar 59-42 the rest of the way for a win at the Sky View tournament.
Kyver Jensen led all scorers with 23 points for Bear River (5-1). Bridger Barfuss added 15 points and Jace Roberts scored nine.

KAYSVILLE — After a 32-30 halftime margin, Olympus burst out of halftime to build a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter, shooting 15 of 24 in the second half to hand Weber its first loss in a game played in the 6A-5A challenge at Davis High School.
Hunter Schenck led Weber (3-1) with 27 points and seven steals. Malachi Spencer added 18 points and seven rebounds.
