Fremont's Boston Hadley (5) turns to shoot over Layton's Crew Harrop (20) on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, in Layton.

Basketball state tournament brackets were unveiled Saturday morning for Utah’s 6A, 5A and 4A classifications.

Below is a classification-by-classification look at where Northern Utah teams landed in the playoff brackets, as well as a full schedule of upcoming games.

6A BOYS

Three Region 1 boys basketball teams nabbed first-round byes: No. 6 Fremont, No. 7 Syracuse and No. 8 Layton.

The Region 1-champion Silverwolves (15-7) await No. 11 Copper Hills (11-11) or No. 22 West Jordan (6-16). Fremont’s most recent outing was a 67-45 demolition over Davis in which they shot 59.1% from the field.

Amid one of its best seasons in school history, Syracuse (14-7) will host either No. 10 Farmington (14-8) or No. 23 West (6-13).

After winning its final six regular-season games to finish second in Region 1, Layton (16-7) gets either No. 9 Westlake (12-10) or No. 24 Hunter (5-16).

Farmington won its last two games to get to the No. 10 spot. Should the Phoenix beat West, it would face a Syracuse team in the second round with which it split the regular-season series.

No. 12 Davis (12-11) hosts No. 21 Weber (6-15) in the first round. The Darts won both regular-season meetings by double digits. The winner travels to No. 5 Riverton (17-6).

Roy (14-9) won its final four regular-season games to get the No. 14 seed and the Royals host No. 19 Mountain Ridge (8-15) in the first round. This is Roy’s best season since 2013-14, when then Royals went 18-7.

No. 20 Clearfield (7-14) visits No. 13 Pleasant Grove (10-13) in the first round. The winner gets No. 4 Lone Peak in the second round. Corner Canyon is the No. 1 seed.

6A GIRLS

On the girls side, Region 1 co-champion Davis (18-2) is the No. 3 seed and fellow co-champ Fremont (17-6) is the No. 5 seed. Both have first-round byes and are on different sides of the bracket.

Davis will host either No. 14 Farmington (11-10) or No. 19 West Jordan (9-15) in the second round. The Darts beat Farmington by double digits in both meetings this season.

A first-round win for Farmington would ensure the Phoenix its fourth winning season in five years of the school being open.

Fremont, on a six-game win streak, gets either No. 12 Taylorsville (14-7) or No. 21 Layton (4-16). The Silverwolves have reached at least the state semifinals for the last five seasons.

No. 10 Syracuse (14-8) hosts No. 23 Roy (6-15), with the winner facing No. 7 Copper Hills in the second round. The Titans have won the last five games against Roy dating back to 2016.

No. 20 Clearfield (8-13), on a 10-game losing streak, heads to No. 13 American Fork (9-11) and No. 22 Weber (5-16), on a five-game losing streak, visits No. 11 Riverton (11-10).

Defending champion Lone Peak is the No. 1 seed.

5A GIRLS

Bountiful’s 19-1 regular season, including 10-0 romp through Region 5 for a back-to-back title, yielded the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye for the Redhawks. They await the winner of No. 15 Wasatch (15-11) and No. 18 Provo (11-12) for a second-round home game.

Northridge (12-9) lost three of its final four regular-season games after leading scorer Madison Hosino suffered an ankle injury, and fell to No. 10 in the RPI after being as high as No. 5 earlier this year. The Knights host No. 23 Cedar Valley (10-10) in the first round and the winner goes to No. 7 Highland (15-5) in the second round.

Bountiful, Northridge and Highland are all in the same quarter of the draw, so the Redhawks could face either of the Knights, Rams or Cedar Valley in the quarters if they get that far.

Box Elder (8-14) is the No. 20 seed and plays at No. 13 Jordan (13-10) in the first round. Bonneville (4-16) finished No. 27 in the RPI and missed the playoffs. Two-time defending champion Springville is the No. 1 seed.

5A BOYS

On the boys side, Northridge (10-11) won five of its final six games in the regular season and needed every one of them as the Knights grabbed the final playoff spot at No. 24. They head to No. 9 Skyline (15-7) in the first round. The winner goes to No. 8 Brighton (16-7).

Box Elder (13-8) lost its final two regular-season games and dropped to No. 11. The Bees will host No. 22 Viewmont (9-14), who just beat Box Elder on Friday, in the first round. The winner faces No. 6 Lehi (18-5).

A year after winning the region championship and advancing to the state semifinals, Bonneville missed the playoffs, finishing No. 27 in RPI. The Lakers (6-15) lost their final seven games of the year, four of them by one basket. Defending champion Olympus is the No. 1 seed.

4A TOURNAMENT

Bear River’s girls team grabbed the No. 6 seed after a 10-10 regular season. The Bears host No. 11 Pine View (7-16) in the first round, with the winner advancing to a quarterfinal at Utah State. Bear River lost 64-56 to PV back on Dec. 9.

In the 4A boys tournament, defending 3A champion Layton Christian (16-10) is the No. 6 seed, also hosting No. 11 Pine View (6-15). Bear River (12-10) is the No. 9 seed and heads to No. 8 Logan, whom the Bears have lost to twice this year. The winners advance to the quarterfinals at USU.

Despite being the No. 6 seed, LCA is being pegged as one of the tournament favorites due to the Eagles having the No. 2 strength of schedule in 4A as LCA played games against the likes of Wasatch Academy, RSL Academy, Juan Diego and Cyprus.
