Prep basketball roundup: Morgan girls win at Ogden; Roy boys top Taylorsville

OGDEN — Morgan High girls basketball led Ogden 27-14 halftime and that lead held up to keep the Trojans in second place in Region 13, as Morgan went on to a 53-42 road win Tuesday night.

Elena Birkeland led Morgan (13-5, 4-1 Region 13) with 16 points and Alyvia Jaffa scored 15.

Ashley Christensen led Ogden (9-8, 2-3) with 16 points and Brynn Smith added 13.

SYRACUSE 71, LAYTON 53

SYRACUSE — Avery Sanders led all scorers with 23 points and Syracuse outscored Layton 23-9 in the fourth quarter in a region win.

Cortnie Barker scored 14 points for Syracuse (10-6, 4-2 Region 1). Ariah Hacker tallied 13 points and Maylee Anderson added 10. Sanders had three 3-pointers.

Brenley Boydston led Layton (1-13, 0-5) with 14 points and four 3-pointers. Avery Potter scored 12 points and Charly Stevens had nine.

NORTHRIDGE 60, BOX ELDER 55

BRIGHAM CITY — Northridge led 36-19 at the half and held off a Box Elder charge for a region road win.

Kaylee Hess led Northridge (10-5, 4-0 Region 5) with 19 points. Madison Hosino scored 17 points with three 3-pointers.

Ashlyn Wight led all scorers with 22 points and four 3-pointers for Box Elder (7-9, 1-3). Olivia Godfrey tallied nine points.

VIEWMONT 45, BONNEVILLE 34

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Viewmont won the first half 28-12 and didn’t look back to defeat Bonneville in a region game.

Emma Mulitalo led Viewmont (8-9, 2-2 Region 5) with 19 points, making three 3-pointers. Lissia Da Silva added 10 points.

Bonneville (4-10, 0-4 Region 5) got 12 points from Libby Jensen and seven from Analeise Maharaj.

FARMINGTON 47, CLEARFIELD 25

CLEARFIELD — Mele Fiefia led Farmington with nine points in a win at Clearfield.

Marissa Marchant scored eight points and Victoria Clinger added seven points with two 3-pointers for Farmington (9-6, 3-3 Region 1).

Xiyah Yarbrough scored a game-high 11 points for Clearfield (8-7, 2-4) and Brooklyn Hawks scored four points.

TAYLORSVILLE 55, ROY 42

ROY — Roy was outscored 22-13 in a decisive third quarter on the way to a home loss against Taylorsville.

Nicole Williams led Roy (3-12, 3-2 Region 2) with 11 points and three 3-pointers. Rhylee Biese scored nine points and Jerzee Hart added eight.

BOUNTIFUL 58, WOODS CROSS 29

BOUNTIFUL — Bountiful led 43-18 after three quarters in a big region win.

Jordyn Harvey led Bountiful (13-1, 4-0 Region 5) with 17 points, Taylor Harvey scored 12 points and the Redhawks made eight 3-pointers.

Kenna Cowley led Woods Cross (10-5, 1-3) with eight points.

ROY — Jayden Spencer scored eight of his 19 points in the fourth quarter, a frame Roy won 15-7 to push past Taylorsville for a region home win.

Elijah Sowards also scored 19 points for Roy (9-8, 4-2 Region 2), closing with six in the fourth quarter. Beau Belnap added 11 points.

SYRACUSE 56, LAYTON 51

SYRACUSE — Syracuse led 42-31 after three quarters and held off a late Layton surge for a region win.

Brevin Hamblin led all scorers with 25 points for Syracuse (10-5, 3-3 Region 1). Kaden Ericksen scored 10 points and Dax Brady added nine.

Brock Mendoza paced Layton (10-7, 3-3) with 16 points. KJ Miller scored 11 points with two 3-pointers.

ST. JOSEPH 63, UTAH MILITARY 52

OGDEN — Gideon Burnham led St. Joseph with 19 points in a home region win.

Tyler Arroyo added 17 points with two 3-pointers for St. Joseph (6-9, 2-3 Region 17).

James Von Weber led all scorers with 24 points and three 3-pointers for Utah Military (4-7, 0-5). Caleb Johnson scored 12 points.

LOGAN 68, BEAR RIVER 53

GARLAND — Kyver Jensen scored 15 points and Bridger Barfuss added 13 as Bear River (10-6, 1-3 Region 11) lost at home to Logan.
