Prep basketball: Schenck scores 37 for Weber; Davis girls, Fremont boys, stay unbeaten in region play

PLEASANT VIEW — Hunter Schenck poured in 37 points to lead Weber High boys basketball past Clearfield in a 75-66 victory Friday night.

Tyler Payne scored 17 points with two 3-pointers for Weber (6-10, 3-4 Region 1).

Austin Mitchell paced Clearfield (6-10, 0-7) with 20 points. Lincoln Church scored 14 points with three 3-pointers and Canyon Dugger added 10 points.

FREMONT 70, FARMINGTON 58

FARMINGTON — Fremont had four players score in double figures in a region road win at Farmington.

Boston Hadley led Fremont (12-5, 7-0 Region 1) with 16 points and two 3-pointers. David Calvert scored 14 points with two treys. Treyden Hoggan tallied 11 points with three 3-pointers and Hunter Hansen scored 10.

Jayden Haskell led Farmington (11-6, 3-4) with 18 points. Paul Beattie scored 15 points and Cole Johnson tallied 13.

LAYTON 49, DAVIS 42

LAYTON — Layton ran out to a 13-5 lead after one quarter in a region win over Davis.

Elias Parkinson led Layton (11-7, 4-3 Region 1) with 14 points and three 3-pointers. Mekhi Martin and Crew Harrop each scored 12 points. Martin dished out six assists and Harrop hauled in 10 rebounds.

Zach Fisher led Davis (10-8, 4-3) with 14 points and seven rebounds. Colby Whicker hit four 3-pointers for 12 points.

WOODS CROSS 57, BONNEVILLE 47

WOODS CROSS — Bonneville led 24-18 at the half, then Woods Cross took the lead for good with a 17-8 third quarter.

Mason Bendinger led Woods Cross (14-3, 5-0 Region 5) with 14 points. Alex Brey scored 13 points with two 3-pointers and Jaxon Smith added nine.

Nathan Burdett paced Bonneville (6-10, 2-3) with 14 points. Bo Dixon added 13 points and Ben Tesch scored 12. Tesch and Burdett each hit two 3-pointers.

BOX ELDER 65, VIEWMONT 57

BRIGHAM CITY — Viewmont led 48-42 after three quarters before Box Elder shot 7 of 12 overall, 3 of 6 from deep and 6 of 6 from the foul line in a 23-9 fourth quarter to claim victory.

Jackson McKee led Box Elder (11-5, 4-1 Region 5) with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Cooper Stevenson shot 4 of 5 from the 3-point line and scored 14 points. Elijah Kersey added 11 points. The Bees committed just three turnovers.

Scott Noel totaled 17 points and five rebounds for Viewmont (6-12, 1-4). Jaxon Heusser had 16 points.

NORTHRIDGE 48, BOUNTIFUL 45

LAYTON — Bountiful led 41-35 after three quarters, then Nortridge outscored the Redhawks 13-4 in the fourth quarter for a comeback region win.

Caden Christensen led 15 points and four 3-pointers for Northridge (6-10, 1-4 Region 5). Bentley Whitear added 10 points and two treys. The Knights tallied nine 3-pointers and eight two-point field goals.

Charlie Smith led Bountiful (6-10, 2-3) with 11 points and three 3-pointers. Carson Smith and Danny Holland each scored eight points.

LAYTON — Kendra Kitchen scored 25 points with three 3-pointers to lead Davis to a region win at Layton.

Aryanna Bull added eight points for Davis (14-1, 7-0 Region 1).

Charly Stevens paced Layton (1-14, 0-7) with nine points and two 3-pointers. Quincie Knudson scored six points.

FREMONT 54, FARMINGTON 34

FARMINGTON — Fremont responded to having its 73-game region winning streak snapped Tuesday by grabbing a big win Friday at Farmington.

Aly Coombs led all scorers with 14 points for Fremont (12-6, 6-1 Region 1). Kaidance King and Sierra Eddie each scored 11 points, with Eddie hitting three 3-pointers.

Courtney Christiansen led Farmington (9-7, 3-4) with 11 points and Marissa Marchant added 10.

ROY 34, KEARNS 33

ROY — Nicole Williams made two free throws in the final 30 seconds to lift Roy to a region win over Kearns.

Williams led Roy (4-12, 4-3 Region 2) with 10 points. Alyea Martinez scored eight points and Sienna Bodily added six. Bodily, Martinez and Williams each made two 3-pointers.

WEBER 42, CLEARFIELD 27

PLEASANT VIEW — Clearfield led 16-14 at the half, then Weber took control with a 16-3 third quarter advantage,

Katelynn Butler led all scorers with 10 points and two 3-pointers for Weber (5-11, 2-5 Region 1). Allie Clark hit three treys for nine points.

Xiyah Yarbrough led Clearfield (8-8, 2-5) with nine points. Brooklyn Hawks added five points.
