Prep roundup: 6A tennis concludes; 6 Northern Utah teams advance to lacrosse semifinals
SALT LAKE CITY — Farmington High’s boys tennis team finished tied for third at the 6A state tournament that concluded Saturday at Liberty Park. Corner Canyon won the team championship.
Nathaniel Bullard, Farmington’s No. 3 singles player, reached the championship match where he fell in straight sets to Corner Canyon’s Cole Jenkins. Bullard topped Derek Larson of American Fork 6-4, 6-1 in the semifinals to reach the final.
Farmington’s No. 1 singles player Charles Frey bowed out in the semifinals 6-3, 6-3 to American Fork’s Caden Hasler, a BYU signee. In No. 2 singles, Justin Steed fell in a heartbreak to Bingham’s Kingsley Hoang 6-2, 6-7(6), 7-5.
Farmington’s No. 1 doubles team of Landon Packer and Spencer Ostermiller reached the semifinals.
Davis had four first-round wins: Will Parkinson in No. 2 singles, Everett Halverson in No. 3 singles, Brox Turley and Scott Finlinson in No. 1 doubles, and Cole Durham and Jacob Williams in No. 2 doubles.
Weber claimed two first-round wins: Gabriel Olsen in No. 3 singles, and Payton Martinez and Luke Nilson in No. 2 doubles.
