Boys golf: 3 shoot under par to lead Bonneville to team win in Region 5 match

Bonneville High boys golfers Parker Bunn, Aiden Gross and Josh Wallis all shot under-par scores to lead the Lakers to a team score of 283 and first place at Monday’s Region 5 match at Crane Field Golf Course in Clinton.

Bunn shot 4-under-par 68 to tie for second place individually with Bountiful’s Ty Cottle. Gross and Wallis shot 3-under 69 each and tied for fourth, helping Bonneville beat Viewmont by three shots in the team standings.

Bonneville’s Zach Ohlin shot 77 and Luke Hall carded a 79. Box Elder’s Taj Hancey shot 2-under 70 to tie for sixth as the Bees shot 289 and took third as a team.

Trevor Labrum shot 72 to tie for ninth, Nathan Taylor shot 73, while Kimball Shepherd and Kanyon DeRyke shot 74 for Box Elder.

Northridge’s Cache Petersen shot 71 to tie for seventh, and Knights teammate Cooper Cowan shot 73.

Colby Frokjer carded an even-par 72 to tie for ninth and lead Roy. Will Coburn shot 78 for the Royals.

Braden Lemke led Clearfield with a 74, and fellow Falcons Caden Burch and Carter Kirkman shot 78s.

Viewmont’s Luke Gardner was the individual medalist with a 67.

The region championship tournament is scheduled for Sept. 25 at The Barn Golf Club in Pleasant View with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
