Prep roundup: Fremont, Bonneville, Clearfield softball notch sizable region wins

PLAIN CITY — Savannah Palmatier hit a home run, two doubles and drove in five to lead Fremont High softball to a region win over Weber on Tuesday.

Jessica Broadbent batted 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI for Fremont (4-3, 2-1 Region 1). Ella Doxey and Kacie Howard each hit a double. Ayzlee Sessions got the win with two hits and six strikeouts over 3 1/3 innings.

Moira Tinsley hit a two-run home run for Weber (6-8, 2-2 Region 1). Logyn Howell hit a double.

BONNEVILLE 16, WOODS CROSS 1

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Mylee Pedersen hit two home runs and drove in four to lead Bonneville to a region win over Woods Cross (1-8, 0-7 Region 5).

Annie Stevenson went 3 for 3 and drove in three for Bonneville (11-2, 5-1). Shelbee Johnson and Ellie Summers each had two hits. Kaylee McAfee and Aya Larson each hit a double. Chandlyr Noble hit a double and pitched three innings with four hits and six strikeouts in the win.

CLEARFIELD 15, NORTHRIDGE 1

CLEARFIELD — Aly Ridge hit a home run, drew a walk, scored two runs and drove in four as Clearfield got a region win over Northridge.

Elizabeth Salazar batted 2 for 3 and drove in three for Clearfield (6-8, 3-3 Region 5). Roxy Leonhardt batted 2 for 2 and scored three runs. Natalie Brierley hit a double. Jenna Lloyd hit an RBI double and pitched a complete game with two hits and eight strikeouts in five innings.

Northridge (3-8, 2-3) did not report stats.

MORGAN 11, UNION 3

MORGAN — Joesi Kelly batted 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs as Morgan topped Union.

Summer Bangerter batted 2 for 4 with four RBIs for Morgan (12-5, 3-2 Region 13). Kaiya Peterson went 2 for 3 with a double. Lexi Hardman had two hits, Kassidy Wardell added a double and Gwen Rickard drove in two. Callie Averett pitched a complete game with 11 hits and seven strikeouts.

WEBER 6, FARMINGTON 5 (9)

PLEASANT VIEW — Weber scored a run in the bottom of the ninth inning for a walk-off win over Farmington.

Dax Rhees hit a two-run home run for Weber (6-8, 2-2 Region 1). Tyce Abbott hit an RBI double. Eastyn Barker batted 3 for 5 and earned the win, allowing one hit over 3 2/3 innings of relief.

Easton Hunt hit a two-run double for Farmington (2-11, 0-4). Gage Farr, Caleb Hadley and Austin Rees each hit an RBI single.

SYRACUSE 6, LAYTON 3

SYRACUSE — Tag Hamblin hit a grand slam as part of a Syracuse six-run first inning to beat Layton.

Carson Miles hit an RBI double for Syracuse (5-7-1, 2-2 Region 1) and Easton Hamblin also doubled. Jake Hopkins had two hits and drove in one. Calder Millard earned the win with four hits and four strikeouts over five innings.

Emilio Cedeno batted 2 for 3 with a double for Layton (9-4, 2-2). Fish Manning, Eli Anderson and Andres Cedeno each singled.

BEAR RIVER 7, SKY VIEW 1

GARLAND — Degan Rigby had two hits and drove in one, and pitched a complete game with five hits and 10 strikeouts as Bear River beat Sky View.

Gehrig Marble batted 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI for Bear River (14-6, 7-3 Region 11). Holden Potter went 2 for 4 with a double. Talon Marble and Easton Goodliffe each had two hits. Brooks Drollinger drove in two.

MORGAN 7, BEN LOMOND 1

MORGAN — Beck Sheffield earned the win by striking out seven and allowing two hits over 4 1/3 innings, and batted 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs as Morgan bested Ben Lomond.

Camron Talbot hit an RBI double for Morgan (11-7, 4-3 Region 13). George Jensen hit a two-run single and Ryder Waldron hit an RBI single.

Makiah Muhammad, Koben Moyes and Max Doss each had one hit for Ben Lomond (0-9, 0-7). Kaysen Reeves drove in Kai Langston for the lone Scots run.

ROY — Xander Allred and Colby Frokjer shared a clean sheet as Roy beat Box Elder (6-2, 6-2 Region 5) in region play.

Bronson Belnap scored on a Hunter Patterson assist for Roy (4-3, 4-3) in the first half.

BONNEVILLE 3, WOODS CROSS 0

WOODS CROSS — Ashton Duran had a goal and an assist as Bonneville blanked Woods Cross (3-5, 3-5 Region 5).

Fabian Serrato and Will Burton shared the clean sheet for Bonneville (6-2, 6-2). Luke Wilcoxen and Dennin Anderson each netted once and Jace Anderson assisted one score.

ST. JOSEPH 2, AM. HERITAGE 1 (OT)

AMERICAN FORK — Isiah Flores scored in extra time to lift St. Joseph to a win at American Heritage (8-2, 4-1 Region 17) to take sole possession of first place in Region 17.

Gabriel Malics netted in the first half for St. Joseph (7-3, 5-0). Tomas Paraizo assisted both scores.

PLEASANT VIEW — Weber topped Fremont at home 25-12, 22-25, 25-16, 25-23.

Sam Cruz led Weber (9-6, 2-2 Region 1) with 10 kills and four aces. Chris Kidd totaled nine kills and five blocks, and Dray Croston passed 24 assists.

Fremont (3-10, 1-3) did not report stats.

OGDEN 3, BEN LOMOND 0

OGDEN — Ogden picked up its first region victory, winning at Ben Lomond 25-8, 25-16, 25-19.

Keen Crowther totaled 12 kills, 11 digs and four aces for Ogden (7-8, 1-2 Region 13). Adam Ballard also had 12 kills, and Rustin Reddish chipped in six kills and two blocks.

Ben Lomond (3-12, 0-4) did not report stats.

MORGAN 3, GRANTSVILLE 1

GRANTSVILLE — Morgan remained atop Region 13 with a win at Grantsville by scores of 24-26, 25-16, 27-25, 29-27.

Jack Komenda led with 12 kills, four aces and five blocks for Morgan (10-6, 3-0 Region 13). Christian Nuñez totaled six kills, seven blocks, 12 digs and two aces. Caleb Stephens passed 27 assists and added 11 digs, and Dex Wallin had eight kills and four blocks.
