CLEARFIELD — Peyton Kotter pitched a complete-game, two-hit shutout and faced two over the minimum to lead Clearfield High baseball in a 4-0 victory Wednesday over Bountiful (7-11, 4-4 Region 5).

Kotter struck out 11 and walked one in his gem for Clearfield (8-11, 4-4) while hitting 2 for 3 at the plate. Logan Fenn batted 2 for 3 with a double and drove in three of his team’s four runs. Colt Chambers singled in a run and Jake Ross went 2 for 3.

FREMONT 9, WEBER 3

PLAIN CITY — Fremont pitchers allowed zero earned runs to go up 2-0 in its Region 1 series with Weber.

Brant Koford got the win in five innings of work, allowing five hits, after Fremont (13-5, 6-2 Region 1) plated seven runs in the bottom of the fifth. Kobe Nance threw two scoreless innings, allowing one hit. Karston Jamison and Brigg Grange each hit 3 for 3 and drove in two runs. Kanyon Pratt also had two RBIs.

Ashton Burnett and Tyce Abbott each drove in one run for Weber (6-12, 2-6) as six Warriors each tallied one single apiece.

LAYTON 7, DAVIS 6 (8)

KAYSVILLE — Layton outlasted Davis in extra innings with a run in the top of the eighth to even their region series.

Ethan Clark doubled, scored twice and had two RBIs for Layton (10-7, 3-5 Region 1). Tanner Neil drove in two with two walks. Fish Manning doubled. Austin Pritchett threw the final 1 2/3 innings in scoreless fashion for the win.

Wally Grant and Max Hunter each drove for two for Davis (13-5, 5-3). Owen Talbot hit 3 for 5 and scored twice.

MORGAN 7, AM. LEADERSHIP 3

SPANISH FORK — Beck Sheffield hit 3 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs as Region 13’s Morgan took a road game against Region 14 leader American Leadership Academy.

Ben Harden hit 3 for 3 and scored three runs for Morgan (16-7). Ryder Waldron won on the mound, allowing two earned runs on eight hits in six innings, striking out six.

WOODS CROSS 5, BOX ELDER 3

BRIGHAM CITY — Landen Golmon doubled, and he and Ashton Burton each drove in a run, but Box Elder (8-10, 3-5 Region 5) lost at home to Woods Cross (11-8, 7-1).

FARMINGTON — Josh Foster netted in the second half, assisted by Cole Janke, to keep Farmington in first in Region 1 by defeating Davis (4-6, 2-5 Region 1).

Jaxon Benyon got the clean sheet for Farmington (10-1, 6-1).

FREMONT 4, LAYTON 3 (OT)

LAYTON — Kyler Klomp banged home a 50-yard free kick in extra time to give Fremont a golden-goal win and keep the Silverwolves a game back of Farmington in Region 1.

Grant Morrison, Ryker Saunders and Payton Clark scored goals for Fremont (7-4, 5-2 Region 1).

Layton (2-7, 1-6) did not report stats.

SYRACUSE 2, WEBER 0

PLEASANT VIEW — Syracuse scored a goal in each half in a region shutout of Weber (6-5, 3-4 Region 1).

Boston Cheney and Treg Malay scored for Syracuse (7-4, 4-3), with Easton Cragun and Bennett Thurgood recording assists.
