Prep roundup: Box Elder girls soccer tops Morgan to open season
BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder High girls soccer escaped Morgan 3-2 in overtime Tuesday to open the season in the win column.
The Bees (1-0) forced overtime with goals by Desarae Elegante, assisted by Olvia Saunders, in the 24th minute and Elegante again, assisted by Halle Wright, in the 75th minute. Oaklee Wylie notched the deciding goal, finding the net 10 seconds into overtime on an assist from Wright.
Morgan (0-1) did not report stats.
DAVIS 8, LOGAN 0
LOGAN — Davis cruised past Logan in shutout fashion for a second consecutive road win Tuesday.
The Darts (2-0) rose to an early lead on a goal by Simone Packer, assisted by Reial Phongsavath, in the 17th minute and never looked back. Davis ripped off three more goals for a comfortable 4-0 lead at halftime: Kate Willard assisted by Packer in the 35th minute, Lidia Neville assisted by Packer in the 36th minute and Willard assisted by Bianca Brower in the 37th minute.
Phongsavath, with another assist by Willard, kicked off the frenzy again with a goal in the 42nd minute. Willard added another goal in the 53rd minute and T’Maea Eteuati added two late scores in the 62nd and 69th minutes, assisted by Courtney Burbidge.
WESTLAKE 2, FREMONT 1
PLAIN CITY — Fremont’s lone goal by Zara Taylor wasn’t enough against West Lake in Tuesday’s home opener.
DAVIS 1, VIEWMONT 0
BOUNTIFUL — Davis broke the seal in the 64th minute Monday when Simone Packer netted on an assist from Kate Willard, and the Darts (1-0) defeated Viewmont to open the season.
Lexie Lund got the shutout in goal for Davis.
NORTHRIDGE 4, OGDEN 1
OGDEN — Northridge claimed a convincing road win Monday.
Megan Beus netted in the first half for Ogden (0-1).
Northridge (1-0), which took a 3-1 lead at the break, did not report stats.
