TAYLOR — Friday evening marks a special occasion for Weber County’s newest high school, West Field, with the official opening of the school’s football stadium in a Week 3 matchup with Salem Hills.
Ahead of the big day, West Field granted the Standard-Examiner’s sports desk an early look at the stadium and adjacent facilities.
The stadium, yet to be named by West Field or Weber School District, was initially planned to become game-ready on Aug. 1 alongside the main building and other athletics facilities. Students are slated to report for the first day of in-person classes on Tuesday, Sept. 3, a school administrator told the Standard-Examiner.
Before bells ring, West Field will celebrate the completion of its new football stadium with the Longhorns (0-2) searching for their first win of the season against Salem Hills (1-1) on Friday night. Additionally, home girls soccer matches are set to begin at the stadium next week.
A multi-lane track wraps the turf field, which includes two sets of grandstands and a home pressbox with a premium-grade sound system. The south end zone is home to a large scoreboard wrapped alongside the track.

Alongside the track, the stadium includes a single long jump pit located behind the north end zone.
The stadium’s north end zone also features temporary accommodations for restrooms and concessions, which are set to be available later this season inside the school’s multipurpose fieldhouse. The fieldhouse — nicknamed “the barn” — will feature permanent restrooms and concessions on the south wall facing the north end zone.
East of the stadium and fieldhouse, West Field football can access nearby weightlifting facilities. Multiple rooms house traditional weightlifting equipment and other spaces cater group workouts and training sessions.
Parking for Friday is diverted to north and south parking lots on opposite sides of each end zone, with two gates set to scan online tickets. Fans can purchase tickets online at gofan.co/event/1576567.
