Sam Cruz and Tate Vernon each tallied 11 kills and four aces to lead Weber (1-0).

OREM — Orem swept Syracuse in the Titans’ inaugural boys volleyball match. Set scores were 25-21, 25-17, 25-19.

Davis Caldwell and Gabe Meredith each had five kills for Syracuse (0-1). Branson Hamblin tallied 15 digs, Caleb Roskelley dished out 11 assists and Joshua Godfrey posted two blocks.

BRIGHAM CITY — Justy Pritchard batted 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs to lead Box Elder to a season-opening win over Mountain Crest.

Kellie Malan hit three singles for Box Elder (1-0). Kailee Hall batted 2 for 4 with a double and drove in three, and earned the win in the circle, striking out seven and allowing three hits over six innings.
