Prep roundup: Bear River softball wins on walk-off homer; Davis baseball throws combined no-hitter

GARLAND — After Bear River High softball gave up two runs and the lead in the top of the seventh inning, shortstop Bella Douglas hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh for a walk-off, 5-4 win Tuesday over Grantsville on Senior Night.

Lucy Roche and Marley Tisdol hit back-to-back solo home runs in the fourth inning for Bear River (26-2). Douglas and Roche each batted 2 for 3 with a home run and a double. Kendyl hit an RBI single. Kate Wilson pitched a complete game with five hits, four walks and 10 strikeouts in the win.

DAVIS 7, FREMONT 3

PLAIN CITY — Serena Roth batted 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI and got the win in a complete game with three earned runs, six hits and one strikeout to lead Davis to a region win at Fremont.

Norah Sunderland batted 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for Davis (16-6, 7-0 Region 1). Jewel Korth went 2 for 4 with a double. Chloe Perry went 2 for 5 and drove in one. Riley Jaques hit an RBI double and Adelyn Turpin added an RBI single.

Savannah Palmatier hit an RBI triple for Fremont (8-13, 5-2). Saige Steele hit a double. Aly Tobias and Jessica Broadbent each hit an RBI single.

SYRACUSE 17, LAYTON 2

SYRACUSE — Syracuse scored multiple runs in all four innings to down Layton.

Liv Harker led Syracuse (13-10, 4-3 Region 1), batting 3 for 4 with two doubles, four RBIs and four runs scored. Grace Thomas hit 3 for 3 with four RBIs and a home run. Brielle Pierce drove in three. Jaidyn Franco tripled. Haydin Giatras faced two over the minimum in four innings, allowing one hit and walking one.

Lexie Himlie tallied the lone hit for Layton (3-16, 1-6).

BOX ELDER 22, NORTHRIDGE 2

LAYTON — Kennadie Blackmer batted 4 for 4 with a home run, two doubles and five RBIs, and pitched three innings with zero hits, one walk and six strikeouts, to lead Box Elder to a five-inning win at Northridge.

Lucy Griffin went 5 for 5 with a double, four RBIs and three runs scored for Box Elder (22-3, 11-1 Region 5). Maclee WIllard batted 3 for 5 with two doubles and three RBIs. Alexis Hales hit a three-run homer. Brooke Richards hit a three-run double and Brooklei Merrill hit a two-run double.

Kaylee Shirreffs hit an RBI double for Northridge (5-13, 2-9). Aubrey Solomon hit a single.

CLEARFIELD 12, BONNEVILLE 9

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Clearfield scored seven runs in the sixth inning to turn a 7-4 deficit into an 11-7 lead in a region win at Bonneville.

Alexandra Bingham batted 2 for 4 with two RBIs for Clearfield (12-7, 9-3 Region 5). Lyla Leonhardt batted 2 for 4 with an RBI. Emma Dishongh hit a two-run double while Jenna Lloyd and Brynn Nicholls each hit two singles.

Lloyd pitched a complete game with 11 hits, six earned runs, two walks and 11 strikeouts.

Ellie Summers batted 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs for Bonneville (7-14, 5-7). Madilynn DeGroot batted 3 for 4 with a double. Samantha Mills went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Kaylee McAfee added a double, a single and an RBI.

FARMINGTON 17, WEBER 6

PLEASANT VIEW — Weber fell behind 12-3 after two frames and couldn’t recover in a six-inning region decision.

Brooklyn Wright led Farmington (10-7, 3-4 Region 1) at the plate batting 4 for 5 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs.

Reagan Blaisdell hit 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a double for Weber (3-18, 1-6). Aliya Rhees hit a triple.

WEST FIELD 4, CYPRUS 2

TAYLOR — West Field gave up two runs in the top of the sixth inning for a 2-2 tie, then responded with the winning runs in the bottom half of the inning to beat Cyprus.

Hailee Elsworth hit a two-run triple for West Field (15-4). Rylee Andreasen batted 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Brylee Leatherwood hit an RBI single. Brinklee Hadley pitched a complete game in the win, with seven hits, two walks and 11 strikeouts.

MORGAN 12, UNION 1

ROOSEVELT — Joesi Kelly batted 2 for 4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs to lead Morgan to a region win at Union (16-10, 6-4 Region 13).

Kaiya Peterson batted 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for Morgan (16-6, 7-3). Kassidy Wardell went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Lexi Hardman added two singles. Kiernee Carter, Stacey George and Kaeson Ervin each hit an RBI single. Callie Averett pitched a complete game with six hits, four walks and four strikeouts in six innings.

BEN LOMOND 24, SUMMIT ACADEMY 9

OGDEN — Aleia Huff and Payton Huff each batted 4 for 6 with three RBIs, with Aleia hitting a home run and a triple, as Ben Lomond blasted Summit Academy.

Elliot Hauser batted 4 for 4 with a triple, a double and drove in four for Ben Lomond (2-11). Ivy Gallegos hit a triple, two doubles and drove in five. McKynzee Anderson went 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Ailin Gonzalez hit three singles and drove in three. Aniyah Gomez got the win with one hit and four strikeouts over three relief innings.

BOUNTIFUL 15, ROY 0

ROY — Isabel Kline got the only hit to ruin a perfect game for freshman Dylan Carpenter of Bountiful (20-3, 11-1 Region 5) in a home loss for Roy (0-17, 0-12).

SOUTH SUMMIT 13, OGDEN 2

KAMAS — South Summit (16-11, 5-5 Region 13) held Ogden to three hits in a region game.

Baelee Ulm hit a triple and scored a run for Ogden (5-16, 2-8). Kenzie George hit a double to drive in Ulm and Ari Ryland. Mia Sugimoto added a single.


BASEBALL

DAVIS 7, WEBER 0

PLEASANT VIEW — Five Davis pitchers combined for a no-hitter in a region win at Weber.

Lincoln Green got the win for Davis (14-6, 8-2 Region 1) with one walk and five strikeouts over 3 2/3 innings. Spencer Cannon pitched one inning with two strikeouts, Brady Charles pitched 1/3 inning, Croyden Christensen struck out two in 1 2/3 innings, and Jake Crowley walked three and struck out one in 1/3 inning.

Stryder Prowse hit a triple and a double and scored two runs for the Darts. Kaleb Weaver and Carter Garrett each batted 2 for 3. Weaver hit a double and drove in two while Garrett had one RBI. Brody McGuire and Wally Grant each hit an RBI single.

Kayson Badger, Jarett Hill, Cooper Johnson and Ridge Torman each reached base for Weber (2-17, 1-9) with one walk each.

LAYTON 4, FARMINGTON 3

LAYTON — Layton was outhit 8-5 but scored two runs, including the game-winner, in the fourth inning in a region win over Farmington (5-15, 3-7 Region 1).

Fish Manning hit a two-run double for Layton (8-11, 7-3). Ethan Clark hit an RBI double and Tanner Neil added a double. Caleb Jackson hit an RBI single and Carter Schoenfeld got a hit. Will Hoffman drove in one on a sacrifice fly.

Lincoln Trythall got the win with one earned run, five hits, four walks and two strikeouts over four innings.

ROY 8, HILLCREST 5

Midvale — Roy gave up three runs in the third inning to fall behind 3-2, then scored six straight to take control in a win at Hillcrest.

James Cochran and Cache Summers each hit a double and two singles and drove in two for Roy (9-11). Kaiden Bates batted 2 for 4 with a triple. Logan Vorwaller went 2 for 5 with two RBIs. Jace Bartela got the win with two earned runs, two hits and five strikeouts over four innings.

TIMPANOGOS 13, WEST FIELD 12 (9)

OREM — Timpanogos (18-7) drew a leadoff walk, put him in scoring position with a sacrifice bunt, and singled to score a walk-off win over West Field in nine innings.

Kanyon Pratt batted 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs for West Field (15-10). Samuel Smith went 3 for 5 with a triple, a double and three RBIs. Conner Miles and Luke Penland each batted 3 for 3. Miles hit two doubles and drove in one while Penland added a double. Brady Penland went 3 for 4 and drove in two.

PROVO 10, OGDEN 0

OGDEN — Ogden was held to three hits in a shutout loss to Provo.

Rodrigo Torres hit a double for Ogden (5-20). Joel Gomez and Kash Thompson each hit a single.

CLEARFIELD 14, ROY 3

CLEARFIELD — Clearfield scored six runs in the second inning to take a 6-2 lead in a six-inning region win over Roy on Monday.

Hudson Meyer batted 4 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs for Clearfield (11-10, 7-3 Region 5). Logan Fenn went 3 for 4 with a home run and drove in four. Colt Chambers and Ryan Frei each hit a double and a single. Taven Swartz hit an RBI double and pitched a complete game with six hits, two earned runs and four strikeouts.

Cache Summers and Logan Vorwaller each batted 2 for 3 with an RBI for Roy (9-8, 2-8). James Cochran hit an RBI single.

GREEN CANYON 1, MORGAN 0

NORTH LOGAN — Cooper Stuart pitched a complete game, giving up one run in the first inning, with five hits and three strikeouts, and Morgan took a hard-luck loss Monday at Green Canyon.

Easton Venz hit a double for Morgan (16-8). Marcus Trease, Luke Bauerle and Lincoln Gilson each hit a single.

LAYTON — Syracuse bested Layton in four sets. Scores were 25-18, 24-26, 25-19, 25-20.

Gabe Meredith paced Syracuse (20-5, 7-2 Region 1) with 23 kills, two aces, three blocks and 16 digs. Adam Martin tallied 14 kills and 18 digs. Caleb Applegate added two aces and three blocks. Talon Morris had four blocks and dished out 43 assists

Layton (6-16, 1-8) did not report stats.

BONNEVILLE 3, NORTHRIDGE 0

LAYTON — Bonneville won in straight sets at Northridge 25-17, 25-13, 28-26.

Semisi Christensen led Bonneville (9-14, 4-9 Region 5) with 10 kills and four aces. Talon Rocha tallied 12 kills. Jace Musgrave dished out 33 assists.

Northridge (0-15, 0-13) did not report stats.

Leonardo Quirino, Bento Vieira, Francisco Fraga and Raphael Bueno each scored once for LCA (13-2, 11-1), which plays Thursday at Murray in a battle of teams tied for first in 4A Region 10.

ROY — A trio of Lakers scored a brace to lead Bonneville to a region win at Roy.

Lilly Robertson, Miley Falk and Stacey Tesch each scored two goals for Bonneville (2-10, 1-3 Region 5). Riley Dykman and Avery Sears scored one goal apiece. Malia Butterfield and Falk each tallied one assist.

Kyrie Hull netted a hat trick for Roy (3-8, 1-3). Jaicey Hansen had two goals and one assist. Taylee Zamora, Anna Fisher and Ada James each added one goal.
