Couldn’t make it out Friday night? No sweat. Here are our statistical standouts from the first week of action.
Tradon Bessinger, Davis (QB): Davis High’s senior quarterback completed 31 of 38 passes for five touchdowns and a region-high 384 yards during a convincing 56-21 win Thursday at Brighton in his season debut. Bessinger hit senior Isaac Morrison and junior Bode Sparrow for a touchdown and 100-plus yards apiece, as well as junior Jaxton Itaaehau for two touchdowns.
Cade Hadley, Fremont (RB): In a Week 1 rivalry matchup, Hadley claimed 21 touches for 115 yards and three Fremont touchdowns during a dominant 42-10 showing at Weber to begin the season. Fellow senior rushers Taylor Graham and Chase Blanch each found the endzone, and starting quarterback Manase Tuatagloa added 64 yards on 14 carries to the rushing total.
Liam Fresques, Northridge (QB): Filling the shoes of Tre Nye, Fresques certainly didn’t disappoint during a 21-14 loss at Copper Hills. Fresques completed 25 of 35 attempts through the air for 267 yards, one interception, and both of the Knights’ touchdowns. He’d target six different receivers in his season debut, hitting senior Makai So’o six times for a team-high 101 yards and both touchdowns.
Madden Bentley, St. Joseph (QB): Another young quarterback making a strong first impression, Bentley led the Jayhawks to victory in a high-scoring, 54-52 home affair with Altamont in 8-Man action last Friday. Bentley completed 12 of 19 attempts for 196 yards and four touchdowns through the air. Junior Izaiah Herbert caught six of those balls, including three for touchdowns during a team-high 96-yard performance against the Longhorns.
Ledger Wight, Syracuse (QB): In his season debut against Woods Cross, Wight recovered from an early pick-six and scrambled for two touchdowns in the first half. He’d set up a double pass from Bracken Lessey to Weston Russell for six, and the Syracuse special teams did the rest in leading Mitch Tulane’s group to a 37-24 win over the Wildcats to begin the year 1-0.
Easton Eilertson, West Field (QB): After producing just one win during its inaugural campaign, West Field opened the 2025 season with the program’s first-ever shutout victory, rolling Taylorsville 48-0 at home in Week 1. Sophomore slinger Eilertson completed 14 of 22 attempts for 248 yards and four touchdowns through the air. He’d hit six different targets in his first start, including senior Jaden Fowers twice for six.
Daniel Love, Farmington (RB): Love took 14 carries for 146 yards, including a 76-yard carry, and two touchdowns during a 37-7 win at Roy in David Fiefia’s first showing as Phoenix head coach. Fellow senior Will Peterson complimented Love’s performance, finishing on 15-of-20 passing for 184 yards and three touchdowns.
