Prep basketball roundup: Roy duo gets hot from 3; Bear River’s Thurgood scores 42

GARLAND — Anthony Parker scored 24 points on 6 of 9 shooting from beyond the 3-point line to lead Roy High boys basketball past Uintah 67-50 on Thursday in the Bear River Winter Classic.

Boston Greenhalgh tallied 19 points for Roy (3-2) on 5 of 10 from distance, adding seven assists and six rebounds. Jesse Jones had 10 points and six rebounds, and Rock Speredon hauled in seven boards.

BEAR RIVER 76, EMERY 67

GARLAND — Kaser Thurgood scored 42 points and Bear River (2-1) outscored Emery 51-36 in the second half for a win in the Bears’ own Winter Classic.

NORTHRIDGE 75, UNION 56

GARLAND — Northridge led 34-24 at the half and slowly pulled away after the break to beat Union in the Bear River Winter Classic.

Theo Roach led Northridge (4-1) with 23 points and Daniel Sunkuli added 22.

CANYON VIEW 80, OGDEN 78 (2 OT)

GARLAND — Tayson Porter scored 10 points in the final 1:37 of regulation to erase a seven-point Ogden deficit and force overtime, only to see Canyon View take control in the second session of extra time for a win in the Bear River Winter Classic.

Porter converted a four-point play for Ogden (1-2) to make the score 57-54, hit a trey with 1:11 left for a 59-57 score, then buried a 3-pointer at the buzzer for a 60-60 tie to force bonus basketball.

DAVIS 60, MTN VIEW-ID 45

DRAPER — Davis sprinted out to a 16-2 lead after one quarter in a win over Mountain View (Idaho) in the Tournament of Champions at Corner Canyon High School.

Tradon Bessinger tallied a double-double for Davis (2-1), with a game-high 15 points on three 3-pointers and 12 rebounds. Bode Sparrow scored 13 points and JT Turley added 10. Cameron Brower had nine points and eight rebounds.

BOX ELDER 59, SKYLINE 45

SALT LAKE CITY — Box Elder took a 37-19 lead into halftime in a Wednesday win at Skyline.

Ryan Jenson and Eli Gilmore each scored 14 points and hit two 3-pointers for Box Elder (3-1). Jaxson Jeppsen tallied 11 points and Krew Peterson added 10.

MANTI 57, BONNEVILLE 49

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Bonneville was outscored 34-27 in the second half in a home loss to Manti on Wednesday.

Bryson Landis led Bonneville (0-3) with 19 points. Jackson Call scored 15 points.

OGDEN — Bear River led 29-22 at the half in a win at Ogden in the Burchell Classic.

Juliet Knowles scored eight points to lead Ogden (2-3). Taylor Duke and Lauretta Taukiuvea each scored six points.

SYRACUSE 60, PRESTON-ID 30

SUGAR CITY, Idaho — Syracuse outscored Preston (Idaho) 36-17 in the second half for a win in the Sugar-Salem Invitational.

Rachel McBride led all scorers with 15 points for Syracuse (3-1). Maylee Anderson and Olivia Sorensen each scored 13 points.

FARMINGTON 47, SPANISH FORK 33

FARMINGTON — Olivia Wayland scored 14 points and Ellie Dorius added 11 to lead Farmington (4-1) to a home win over Spanish Fork. Lexi Branch scored 25 of the 33 Spanish Fork points.

OREM 57, BEN LOMOND 11

OGDEN — Aliyah Gonzalez led Ben Lomond (0-3) with five points and the Scots fell to Orem at home.

WASATCH 62, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 39

HEBER CITY — Ava Smith totaled 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists but Layton Christian fell in a lopsided road loss Tuesday.
