Prep basketball roundup: Ogden boys go 4-0 at Tarkanian Classic

LAS VEGAS — For the second straight day, Ogden High boys basketball erased a halftime deficit with a strong second half, besting Warren (Downey, California) 35-20 after halftime to win 53-47 on Tuesday morning and claim their bracket’s championship with a 4-0 run at the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas.

Jackson Maw and Briggs Galbraith each netted 14 points to lead Ogden (7-4) to a win over Warren, who entered the day with an 8-2 record. Tayson Porter scored 13 points.

OGDEN 56, DAYTON-NV 52

LAS VEGAS — Ogden outscored Dayton (Nevada) 35-24 in the second half to win another game Monday at the Tarkanian Classic.

Tayson Porter scored 22 points to lead Ogden. Jackson Maw added 14 points.

LAYTON 75, PALISADES-CA 71 (OT)

LAS VEGAS — Chase Randall and Nic Anderson each hit a 3-pointer in overtime and Layton capped a 3-1 weekend at the Tarkanian Classic with a win over Palisades (Pacific Palisades, California) on Tuesday afternoon.

Karter Miller scored 14 of his 25 points in the second half, helping Layton (9-2) withstand Palisades player EJ Popoola netting 17 in the second half to force overtime.

Jack Godderidge scored 16 points for Layton. Anderson and Tage Allen each scored 11 points. Randall totaled 10 points, seven of which came in overtime.

LAYTON 72, LIBERTY-NV 56

LAS VEGAS — Karter Miller scored 12 of his 19 points in the second half and Layton defeated Liberty (Henderson, Nevada) on Monday at the Tarkanian Classic.

Nic Anderson knocked down four 3-pointers on the way to 17 points for Layton. Chase Randall added 16 points.
