CLEARFIELD — A memorable name in Northern Utah hoops returns home this weekend as Clearfield native and BYU All-American Jackie Beene McBride will have her number, 32, retired at halftime of Clearfield girls basketball’s home contest with Roy at 5:15 p.m. Friday.

Beene became the first female All-American from Utah in helping the Falcons claim their first-ever state championship in 1977 under coach Margo Jones. The Clearfield graduate went on to become a three-time All-American at BYU from 1978 to 1982.

BYU admitted Beene to the school’s Hall of Fame in 1999 and later retired her college-worn number, 22, in 2013.
