Entry begins at $500 for a four-person scramble, slated for an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Teams receive a continental breakfast, lunch, “swag bag,” 18 holes and a cart. Closest drive, longest drive and putting competitions for men and women are included.
This year’s fundraiser plans on bringing a new press box, bleachers, turfed mound, batting practice space, field maintenance equipment and the long-term turfing of the infield at the newly renamed Fred Thompson Field at the school.
As of Monday, the tournament has raised $8,170 of its $20,000 goal. Donations can be made through the official fundraising website.
The fundraiser tees off a full slate of Pioneer Day festivities around Roy and Ogden. Saturday, the annual “Miss Roy” competition will be hosted at Roy High beginning at 6 p.m. The fishing derby at Roger Phil Burnett Meadow Creek Pond (July 26), Splash Bash at the Roy Aquatic Center (July 28) and Night Golf at Eagle Lake Golf Course (July 31) shape out the month.
Friday also marks a special night for the Spencer Fox Eccles Pioneer Stadium in Ogden, as Chancey Williams headlines the first-ever Bulls, Broncs, & Bands rodeo and concert. The lineup includes steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down, breakaway competitions and the annual Miss Rodeo Utah Horsemanship Competition at Golden Spike Arena.
Check-in for Friday’s tournament is set for 7 a.m. at Schneider’s Riverside. Interested parties can register online at www.successfund.com/5jp67/.
