TAYLOR — Boston Kap pitched a complete game with four hits, one earned run, five walks and two strikeouts to lead No. 11 West Field High baseball past No. 22 Green Canyon (5-20) in a 10-2 victory Friday in the first game of a 4A state regional best-of-three series.

Grady Garrett batted 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs for West Field (16-10). Brady Penland went 2 for 4 and drove in two. Samuel Smith batted 2 for 3 with a double. Luke Penland and Kap each batted 2 for 4. Kanyon Pratt hit two singles and drove in one.

The series concludes Saturday.

DAVIS 26, WEBER 9

PLEASANT VIEW — Weber scored eight runs in the first inning to cut the Davis lead to 13-8 in a four-inning region home loss.

Owen Talbot hit two home runs and drove in four for Davis (16-6, 10-2 Region 1). Kaleb Weaver hit a home run and two doubles, scored four runs and drove in seven. Brody McGuire added a home run, two doubles and six RBIs.

Cayman Sanchez and Wally Grant each batted 3 for 3 with a double, with Sanchez driving in three. Jaxon Marble went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs. Carter Garrett hit two singles and drove in two.

Easton Pratt hit two doubles and drove in two for Weber (2-19, 1-11). Riley Morris hit an RBI double. Caden Lindholm hit a two-run single. Keldyn Hubbard added an RBI single.

LAYTON 7, FARMINGTON 3

LAYTON — Layton scored four runs in the fourth inning to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 5-2 lead in a region win over Farmington (5-17, 3-9 Region 1).

Ethan Clark batted 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs for Layton (10-11, 9-3 Region 1). Nik Bielaczyc went 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Carter Schoenfeld hit a double. Fish Manning and Will Hoffman each hit an RBI single. Austin Pritchett pitched a complete game with nine hits, two earned runs, one walk and one strikeout.

ROY 4, BONNEVILLE 1

ROY — Connor Robinson pitched a complete game, allowing three hits, two walks and striking out nine to lead Roy past Bonneville.

Tristan Young hit a two-run single and drove in a run on a hit-by-pitch for Roy (11-12, 3-9 Region 5). James Cochran and Parker Skidmore each hit a single. Kaiden Bates scored on a passed ball.

Jaygen Noble hit an RBI single to drive in Zack Ohlin in the third inning for Bonneville (9-14, 3-9). Paden Toula and Adam Field each hit a single.

CLEARFIELD 7, BOX ELDER 2

CLEARFIELD — Clearfield scored two runs in the second inning to take a 4-1 lead in a region win over Box Elder.

Colt Chambers hit a triple for Clearfield (12-11,8-4 Region 5). Ryan Frei hit a two-run double and Taven Swartz added an RBI single. Logan Fenn hit an RBI single and earned the win with two hits, four walks and 13 strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.

Bryson Wight hit a single and drove in both runs for Box Elder (5-17, 2-10). Easton Green added a single and two walks and scored both runs.

RICHFIELD 9, OGDEN 6

OGDEN — Ogden scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning but its rally fell short against Richfield.

Xavier Aldous batted 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Ogden (5-20). Kash Thompson hit an RBI double. Dominic Piper went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Lucas Bushell added a single.

WOODS CROSS 15, NORTHRIDGE 0

WOODS CROSS — Northridge was on the wrong side of a no-hitter in a loss at Woods Cross (14-9, 9-3 Region 5).

Ryan Small drew a base on balls for Northridge (14-9, 6-6). Isaac Anderson and Parker Jeppson each reached base via hit-by-pitch.

PROV HALL 13, MORGAN 10

AMERICAN FORK — Morgan scored five runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings, but it wasn’t enough in a loss to Providence Hall at Rotary Park.

Lincoln Gilson batted 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for Morgan (17-8). Easton Venz went 2 for 3 and drove in two. George Jensen hit an RBI double. Beck Sheffield added a double.


SOFTBALL

DAVIS 2, BOUNTIFUL 0

BOUNTIFUL — Serena Roth pitched a complete game one-hitter with three walks and six strikeouts to lead Davis to a non-region win at Bountiful.

Hadlee Isaacs hit an RBI triple for Davis (18-6). Riley Jaques added a single. Adelyn Turpin reached on an error and scored a run. Courtesy runner Hannah Garlock also scored.

Ella Miller got the lone hit for Bountiful (22-5) and took the hard-luck loss with two hits, one earned run, 12 strikeouts and five walks.

FARMINGTON 13, ROY 0

ROY — Lill Topham pitched a complete game with three hits and three strikeouts to lead Farmington to a five-inning win at Roy.

Kiley Gazafy hit a home run and drove in four for Farmington (11-8). Ruby Andrus hit two doubles and drove in two. Lola Ogzewalla batted 3 for 4 with an RBI and scored three runs.

Lundyn Hearell, Brynlee Pearl and Cortney Syme each hit a single for Roy (0-19).

LAYTON 17, CORNER CANYON 0

DRAPER — Nora Morrow hit an RBI double and pitched a no-hitter with two walks and five strikeouts to lead Layton to a four-inning win at Corner Canyon.

Serenity Overton batted 3 for 4 with a triple, two doubles, four RBIs and scored three runs for Layton (4-18). Macie Clark went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Ryleigh Newey batted 2 for 2 with a double and drove in two. Lexie Himle hit a two-run double.

Layton scored seven runs before Corner Canyon batted, then added nine more runs in the second inning.


BOYS SOCCER

DAVIS 2, LAYTON 1

LAYTON — Kyle Livermore tallied a goal and an assist to lead Davis to victory at Layton, wrapping up the outright Region 1 title for the Darts.

Parker Anderson netted once for Davis (10-5, 7-3 Region 1) and Titan Jensen assisted one score.

Yoiner Fonseca scored for Layton (8-7, 5-5).

The UHSAA will reveal playoff brackets for 6A, 5A and 4A classifications at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7.

FREMONT 2, WEBER 1

PLEASANT VIEW — Fremont took a 1-0 lead into the break and held up for a region win at Weber.

Dylan Bruce netted a brace for Fremont (11-5, 5-5 Region 1). Justin Daniels assisted one score.

Mavrick Baker scored on a Beckham Dean for Weber (12-5, 5-5).

FARMINGTON 2, SYRACUSE 1 (2OT)

SYRACUSE — Farmington (6-7, 5-5 Region 1) scored the golden goal in the second session of extra time to win at Syracuse.

Tate Jacobs scored Syracuse (7-10, 3-7) on a Wyatt Affleck assist.

CLEARFIELD 3, BONNEVILLE 1

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Clearfield (4-10, 4-9 Region 5) got one goal apiece from Carson Gailey, Alex Harrop and Kyson Weaver to defeat Bonneville on Thursday. Will Rupert tallied two assists.

Ryker Brooks scored on a Gabe Noriega assist for Bonneville (2-14, 2-12).

WOODS CROSS — Roy trailed 8-3 at halftime and couldn’t keep up in a region road loss at Woods Cross (12-4, 6-0 Region 5).

Kayson Brimhall, Tyler Dickson and Kenai Sudyka each scored once for Roy (4-12, 2-4).


GIRLS LACROSSE

FARMINGTON 20, SYRACUSE 3

SYRACUSE — Alexandra MacAulay tallied seven goals and one assist to lead Farmington to a win at Syracuse on Thursday.

Kate Carter added three goals and four assists for Farmington (12-3, 8-0 Region 1).

Syracuse (10-5, 4-4) got two goals from Adrie Fairbanks and one from Avery Evans.
