Davis High softball players circle around the Region 1 championship trophy after defeating Weber on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in Kaysville.
KAYSVILLE — It may have been senior day, but every single batter in the Davis softball lineup celebrated on Tuesday.
All nine Darts scored at least one run (eight scored two or more) and every player rapped at least one base hit (with seven totaling two-plus). In addition, seven of the nine starters had an RBI.
The Darts ripped 19 hits and batted around twice in four innings.
Davis run-ruled Weber 18-2 and, in the process, captured its second straight Region 1 crown.
“It’s crazy; the more runs the better. We just kept putting them up and we plan to keep putting up more,” Davis junior left fielder Chloe Peery said. “Everyone hit; everyone was on. I’m so excited for the seniors. They got the opportunity and then they succeeded … fun to watch everyone hit.”

One of those seniors was right fielder Libby Miller, who is usually the designated flex — she plays in the field but doesn’t bat.
On Tuesday, Miller got her turn at the plate and responded with an RBI double and a two-run triple while scoring three runs in three at-bats.
“Today I got to do both, so I’m really thankful for that,” Miler said. “I watched the ball and hit it … having fun up there and staying calm.”
After leaving the bases loaded in the first inning, Davis (20-6, 9-0 Region 1) scored two in the second on RBIs by Miller and Peery, then added eight runs in the third, all unearned, after a passed ball on strike three to make it 10-0.
“When stuff like that happens, you have to take advantage of it because you never know; we could do the same thing and they could come back on us,” Miller said. “Definitely important to take advantage of those mistakes.”

Weber (3-20, 1-8) countered with two runs in the top of the fourth, but eight more by Davis in the bottom half ended the game in walk-off fashion on a single by senior DH Sophia Slouf.
Peery finished her day 3 for 4 with two runs scored and four RBIs.
“I feel like I’ve been struggling the last few games, so I kept working hard, didn’t think about it, and went up there and hit it,” Peery said. “I thought ‘I need to hit it;’ whatever, I’m just going to hit it.”
Junior Serena Roth pitched the four-inning complete game win for the Darts, allowing two hits, walking two and striking out six on a very windy afternoon.
“I threw more screwballs and a curve occasionally. The wind helped with my spin a lot. I can’t see my ball move, so I kind of hope they just miss it,” Roth said. “I was in a groove; everyone was feeling happy. It was a good day for teamwork … senior night. All the seniors contributed.”
In their last bow at home, here are the stat lines for the seniors on Tuesday: first baseman Katie Klaumann 2 for 4 with one RBI and two runs; third baseman Hadlee Isaacs 2 for 4 with one RBI and three runs; Slouf 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs; and Miller 2 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs.
“It was so fun; I’m getting a little emotional now. I love my teammates so much,” Miller said. “We’ve gone through everything. It’s such a special experience these last three years. I’m thankful for it.”
With one year remaining of her high school career, Peery reflected on what will inevitably come.
“Crazy how fast it went by. I have such close friends who are seniors. Wow, it’s next year for me,” Peery said.
