All-Region 5 football: Fremont’s Salesi Moa tabbed season MVP
Region 5 awards, first team, second team and honorable mention released over the weekend

Northridge senior defensive back Makai So’o was named the region’s Defensive Most Valuable Player honors. So’o racked up a career 216 tackles, 7 sacks, 8.0 tackles for loss, and two interceptions. The two-way star also lent 804 receiving yards and six touchdowns offensively.
The No. 17 Knights ended their campaign 5-6 overall following a 56-13 loss against West High (10-1) in the second round of the playoffs on Friday.
No. 2 Fremont (9-2) hosts No. 7 Brighton (6-5) at 6 p.m. Friday in Plain City, while No. 6 Box Elder (9-2) will play at No. 3 Springville (10-1) at 5 p.m. Friday.
If both the Silverwolves and the Bees win, the region foes will face each other in the 5A semifinals Nov. 13 at Rice-Eccles Stadium at the University of Utah.
