Prep football playoffs: Box Elder, Morgan, Syracuse all bow out

West Field and Box Elder line up during a 5A playoff football game on Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, in Brigham City.SPRINGVILLE — No. 6 Box Elder High football tied the game midway through the fourth quarter, but No. 3 Springville (11-1) ate up the clock and scored the winning touchdown late in the final frame for a 28-21 win Friday in the state 5A football quarterfinals.
Kadyn Reyes got Box Elder on the board with a 4-yard run to make the score 14-7 early in the second quarter. Tytan Hupp booted a 40-yard field goal with three seconds left in the first half, and the Bees trailed 21-10 at the break. Hupp added a 41-yard field goal, making the score 21-13 with 2:25 left in the third quarter.
Judd Howells scored on a 3-yard run and a Reyes pass to Maddox Earnest for a two-point conversion tied the game with 8:59 remaining, setting up the final Red Devil touchdown.
Box Elder finishes the season with a 9-3 mark.
MANTI 42, MORGAN 28
CEDAR CITY — No. 2 Morgan gave up the game’s last two touchdowns in a loss to No. 3 Manti in the 3A semifinals held at Southern Utah University.
Cade Randall opened the scoring with a 1-yard dive to give Morgan a 7-0 lead at the 9:01 mark of the first quarter. Kanyon Leonelli scored the first of his two rushing touchdowns from 1 yard out on the first play of the second quarter, and the Trojans led 14-7.
Randall tossed an 11-yard scoring strike to Brody Peterson with 5:11 left in the first half, giving Morgan a 21-13 lead. A Manti (9-3) touchdown and two-point conversion with nine seconds left forged a 21-21 halftime tie.
Manti took a 28-21 lead midway through the third quarter. The Trojans equalized on a Leonelli 7-yard run and Carter Goram PAT with 5:39 left in the third quarter. Manti took the lead back for good with a 3-yard run, then got an insurance score on a 63-yard pass early in the final frame.
Morgan ends the season with a 10-2 record.
CORNER CANYON 56, SYRACUSE 14
DRAPER — Ledger Wight passed for a touchdown and ran for another as No. 8 Syracuse saw its season end at the hands of No. 1 Corner Canyon (10-1) in the 6A quarterfinals.
Wight got Syracuse (7-4) on the board with a 40-yard touchdown pass to Tanner Merril, cutting the Charger lead to 21-7 with 11:02 left in the second quarter. Wight scored on an 8-yard scramble to make the score 35-14 with 2:16 left in the first half.
The Titans end the year with a 7-4 record.
