Prep basketball roundup: Bonneville, West Field girls tally season-opening wins

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Bonneville High girls basketball led 19-1 after one quarter and 41-7 at the half on the way to a 73-17 win over Kearns on Wednesday.

Paytien Russell led all scorers with 12 points and two 3-pointers for Bonneville (1-0). Charity McDonald, Stacey Tesch and Adisyn Stone each tallied eight points while Bailey Webb and Ema Eskelsen added seven points apiece.

WEST FIELD 44, BEAR RIVER 42

GARLAND — West Field outscored Bear River 17-14 in the fourth quarter to claim victory in the season opener for both teams on Wednesday.

Sami Theurer led Bear River (0-1) with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Maylee Higley scored 14 points. Ava Driggs added eight rebounds.

West Field (1-0) did not report stats.

TIMPANOGOS 69, OGDEN 36

OREM — Ogden fell behind 17-3 after one quarter and could get no closer in a loss Thursday at Timpanogos.

Salote Tonga led Ogden (0-1) with nine points. Juliet Knowles added six points and Taylor Duke scored five.

COPPER HILLS 56, CLEARFIELD 53

WEST JORDAN — Izzy Wyaskett scored 18 points and Ciara De La O had 16, and the two combined to shoot 18 of 23 at the foul line, but Clearfield dropped its season-opener in a road defeat at Copper Hills on Wednesday.

JUAN DIEGO 37, ROY 30

DRAPER — Juan Diego’s 11-3 third-quarter advantage was the difference in defeating Roy on Wednesday.

Jazzi Prieto led Roy (0-1) with nine points. Quincy Hoover totaled five points and seven rebounds. Roy shot just 10 of 57 from the field.

LOGAN — Box Elder outscored Logan in all four quarters for a season-opening win on the road Wednesday.

Krew Peterson scored a game-high 14 points with four 3-pointers for Box Elder (1-0). Ryan Jenson tallied 13 points and Eli Gilmore added 10.

SPRINGVILLE 81, WEBER 57

PLEASANT VIEW — Weber trailed 57-33 at the half in a home loss to Springville on Wednesday.

Derik Bowden scored a game-high 27 points with two 3-pointers for Weber (0-1). Jake Thomas, Carter Payne and Beau Potokar each scored five points.

Only four players scored for Springville.
