Prep basketball roundup: Miller rallies Layton to opening win over Viewmont
LAYTON — Karter Miller scored 15 of his team’s 19 fourth-quarter points and Layton High boys basketball rallied from six points down to a 57-51 victory over Viewmont to open the Lancers’ season Friday night.
Miller scored a game-high 27 points for Layton (1-0). Chase Randall and Jack Godderidge each added nine points, with Randall hitting two 3-pointers.

BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder outscored Bear River 17-10 in the fourth quarter to break open a tight game.
Krew Peterson led all scorers with 21 points and four 3-pointers for Box Elder (2-0). Eli Gilmore scored 13 points with two treys. Ryan Jenson added 12 points and three 3-pointers.
Kaser Thurgood led Bear River (0-1) with 18 points and three 3-pointers. Andy Anderson hit four treys on his way to 16 points.

ROY — Syracuse ran out to an 18-0 lead and led 36-5 at the half in a big win at Roy.
Rachel McBride scored a game-high 12 points with two 3-pointers and six rebounds for Syracuse (1-0). Maylee Anderson scored nine points while Karsyn Visser and Olivia Sorensen each netted eight.
Lily Solomona led Roy (0-2) with seven points and four rebounds. Jazzi Prieto added six points on two 3-pointers and Quincy Hoover hauled in five boards.

TAYLOR — West Field was outscored 17-7 in the second quarter and couldn’t quite recover in a home loss to Mountain View.
Kylee Mueller led West Field (1-1) with 13 points. Kenzie Bagby added 13 points and Tailey Buckway scored five.

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Bonneville trailed 36-23 at the half in a home loss to Green Canyon.
Baya Jimenez led all scorers with 24 points on three 3-pointers for Bonneville (1-1). Adisyn Stone added 10 points while Stacey Tesch and Bailey Webb each scored five.
