Girls soccer playoffs: Syracuse, St. Joseph lead local pack with byes in initial bracket reveal
West Field earns highest seed in Region 5, first-round bye in 5A tournament

The Titans (15-3, 7-1 Region 1), along with St. Joseph in 2A, are in unique company as the lone top-three seeds out of Davis or Weber counties. Syracuse will host the winner of No. 15 Cedar Valley and No. 18 Salt Lake Academy in the second round on Oct. 14.
Davis, Layton, and Weber each received first-round byes in the 18-team classification. With second-round wins, Syracuse and Weber would face off again after Tuesday’s match between the two was decided in a penalty shootout.
West Field, the No. 7 seed in 5A, received Region 5’s lone first-round bye, slating the Longhorns (12-6, 9-3 Region 5) to face the winner of No. 10 Brighton and No. 23 Viewmont in a second-round match on Oct. 14.
Region champion Box Elder, the No. 11 seed, will host No. 22 West Jordan in a first-round playoff on Oct. 9.
No. 14 Bonneville (11-6, 8-4) and No. 19 Fremont (6-11, 4-8) will meet for a third time this season in a first-round playoff on Oct. 9. The Lakers own the regular-season series 2-0 (3-1, 3-1). Roy (2-15, 0-12) missed the cut.
In 4A, Bear River (4-14, 3-11 Region 11) snapped a six-match losing streak at Deseret Peak 4-1 to end the season. The No. 24 Bears hit the road to challenge No. 9 Mountain View (13-3, 9-1 Region 8) on Thursday to decide who takes on No. 8 Stansbury on Oct. 14.
Winning 6 of 6 to finish the regular season, St. Joseph checked into the 2A tournament as the No. 2 seed and earned a first-round bye. The Jayhawks (10-4, 4-2 Region 17) play the winner of No. 15 Enterprise and No. 18 American Prep at home on Oct. 15.
No. 14 Utah Military-Hill Field (5-13) will contest a first-round, play-in contest with No. 19 Parowan (2-17) at home on Oct. 11.
The 3A bracket reveal is slated for Saturday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m.
First-round, second-round and quarterfinal matches are contested at home sites. The 6A, 5A and 4A semifinals are scheduled for Oct. 20-21 at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, with championship matches slated for Friday, Oct. 24, at America First Field in Sandy.
The 3A and 2A semifinals are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 23, at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, with the subsequent championship matches slated for Saturday, Oct. 25, at America First Field in Sandy.
