Prep football roundup: Box Elder, Morgan keep pace in region races

Howells scored on first-quarter runs of 1 and 4 yards for Box Elder (7-2, 4-1 Region 5). Hupp kicked a 25-yard field goal as the first half expired to give the Bees an 18-0 lead at the break.
Hupp converted a 31-yard field goal midway through the third quarter and capped the scoring on a 30-yard boot with 47 seconds left in the game.
Brik Barlow got Clearfield (3-6, 1-4) on the board with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Alyric Kelley.
NORTHRIDGE 27, BONNEVILLE 14
LAYTON — Northridge rushed for three touchdowns to best Bonneville.
Grant Slater threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Roman Fitisemanu to open the scoring for Northridge (3-5, 2-3 Region 5). Andrew Ortiz rushed for a 23-yard touchdown late in the first quarter and the Knights led 13-0 at the half.
Rylen Rude scored on a 4-yard run in the third quarter, and Seon Kumar added a 21-yard rushing touchdown early in the fourth quarter for Northridge.
Paden Toula got Bonneville (0-9, 0-6) on the board with a 36-yard scoring strike to Daniel Park late in the third quarter. Toula found Ashton Spackman for a 4-yard touchdown pass to cap the scoring with 27 seconds left in the game.
MORGAN 38, OGDEN 0
OGDEN — Cade Randall passed for three touchdowns and ran for one as Morgan shut out Ogden (5-4, 1-3 3A North) in region play.
Randall tossed a 15-yard scoring strike to Brody Peterson to get Morgan (8-1, 4-0) on the board with 3:08 left in the first quarter. Randall found Eli Mortensen for a 12-yard score with 22 seconds left in the first quarter.
Randall connected with George Thurston for a 29-yard touchdown pass, then scored on a 3-yard run with 1:37 left in the half. Carter Goram booted a 24-yard field goal as the second quarter expired, giving the Trojans a 31-0 lead.
Luke Bauerle capped the scoring midway through the third quarter when he returned an interception 21 yards for a touchdown.
BEAR RIVER 44, DESERET PEAK 7
GARLAND — Ridgon Vonk rushed for two touchdowns and Bear River blasted first-year school Deseret Peak.
Korver Riley tossed a 37-yard touchdown pass to Eli Braegger for Bear River (3-6, 2-4 Region 11). Kody Wilson sacked the Deseret Peak quarterback in the end zone for a safety with 2:07 left in the second quarter, and the Bears led 23-0 at the half.
Glaiden Behrens returned a punt 56 yards for a score in the third quarter and Oaklin Martin scored on a 7-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter. Riley capped the scoring on a 1-yard plunge with 7:25 left in the game.
Deseret Peak (0-9, 0-6) broke the shutout with a 51-yard interception return midway through the third quarter.
FARMINGTON 27, SYRACUSE 21
SYRACUSE — In a game that featured two field goals from at least 50 yards, Farmington outlasted Syracuse for a region win.
Jaxon Beynon booted field goals of 44 and 50 yards for Farmington (4-5, 1-2 Region 1). Chase Hamblin opened the scoring for the Phoenix with a 3-yard run.
Kava Fiefia hauled in a Will Peterson pass for a 9-yard score midway through the second quarter. Peterson added a 50-yard touchdown run.
Skyler Orton kicked an ordinary-by-comparison 37-yard field goal with 1:46 left in the second quarter for Syracuse (6-3, 2-2) and converted a 55-yard field goal as the half expired, giving Farmington a 17-6 lead at the break.
Ledger Wight connected with Cohen Godderidge for a 4-yard touchdown pass, then rushed 33 yards for a touchdown to cut the Farmington lead to 24-21 with 10 seconds left in the third quarter.
