State boys golf: Runner-up Rees leads Morgan to sixth all-time title
Eliason leads Ogden's seventh-place finish; Two Tigers join the top 25

After the final round on Thursday, Morgan junior Caleb Rees ended up as the state runner-up by shooting 6-under, but he was unable to keep up with Juab senior Denver Douglas who carded 12-under across 36 holes for the state title. Sophomore teammate Jace Benson birdied his final two holes to finish third individually at 5-under.
First-place Morgan’s accolades didn’t end there either.
In his state debut, freshman Braxton Telford finished his round 4-over to join the top 10 alongside Rees and Benson. Senior Kash Peterson won 14th place outright at 10-over, and sophomore Davis Wilkins tied Kyler Davies for 18th at 12-over.
Despite two bogeys and a double-bogey on the back nine, Ogden junior Dallin Eliason tied Logan’s Braden Anderson and Richfield’s Braigen McConnell for 15th with 12-over, and still managed the best state performance by the seventh-place Tigers.
Ogden junior Parley Gladwell recovered from back-to-back bogeys to birdie the 18th hole and tie Emery’s Champ Justice and Delta’s Dreyden Wood for 22nd with 14-over. Cooper Pitcher led Ben Lomond shooting 25-over in a three-way tie for 48th place; Koban Moyes tied Delta’s Brix McDermaid for 55th with 34-over.
