Girls soccer playoffs: Davis, Box Elder stage upsets to advance to quarterfinals
Several area teams end season on tough, 1-goal losses

Davis High meets along the sideline during a non-region match vs. West Field on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, at Angel Street Soccer Complex in Kaysville.LEHI — Kaitlyn Harris kept a clean sheet and Sammy Maudsley scored a brace as No. 11 Davis High girls soccer upset No. 6 Lehi (10-9) by a 2-0 decision in a 6A state tournament second-round match Tuesday.
Davis (10-7) will travel across Interstate 15 to face Region 1 rival and No. 3 seed Farmington (12-6) at 4 p.m. Thursday. The Phoenix beat Skyridge 4-0 to advance.
BOX ELDER 8, HILLCREST 0
MIDVALE — Halli Wright netted a hat trick to lead No. 11 Box Elder to an upset and blowout win at No. 6 Hillcrest (13-6) in the 5A second round.
Emma Nelson and Mia Paige shared the clean sheet for Box Elder (13-6). Taylor Nye scored two goals. Oakley Norman, Milley Barber and Payton Mund each netted once. Desarae Elegante assisted two goals while Marley Barber and Olivia Saunders tallied one assist apiece.
The Bees will travel to face No. 3 Spanish Fork at 4 p.m. Thursday.
CORNER CANYON 1, WEBER 0
PLEASANT VIEW — In a 6A second-round match, No. 7 Weber gave up a second-half goal to No. 10 Corner Canyon (10-7) to end the season with a home loss and a 10-9 record.
AMERICAN FORK 1, LAYTON 0
AMERICAN FORK — No. 12 Layton gave up a first-half goal in a loss at No. 5 American Fork (11-5) in the 6A second round.
The Lancers finish the season with an 8-10 mark.
SPRINGVILLE 3, CLEARFIELD 2
SPRINGVILLE — No. 13 Clearfield trailed 2-1 at the half in a 5A second-round loss at No. 4 Springville (14-5).
Kamryn Weaver and Emmery Johnson scored for Clearfield. Kyleigh Cate assisted one goal. The Falcons end the season with a 10-8 record.
SPANISH FORK 1 def. BONNEVILLE 1 (3-2 PK)
SPANISH FORK — No. 14 Bonneville fell 3-2 in a penalty kick shootout at No. 3 Spanish Fork (14-5) in the 5A second round after ending full and extra time tied 1-1.
Liliana Amarillo netted for the Lakers, who end the year with a 12-7 mark.

WEST FIELD 3, CLEARFIELD 1
CLEARFIELD — West Field won at Clearfield in four sets. Scores were 25-22, 18-25, 25-15, 26-24,
Kalli Bremser paced West Field (16-11, 5-4 Region 5) with 10 kills, four aces and four blocks. Ainsley Schiffman added nine kills, one ace and 11 digs. Paige Butler tallied six kills, four aces and nine digs.
Clearfield (13-13, 4-7) did not report stats.
OGDEN 3, LOGAN 1
OGDEN — Ogden bested Logan (9-19, 3-7 Region 12) in four sets. Scores were 25-9, 25-18, 17-25, 25-19.
Lauretta Taylor led Ogden (15-12, 6-4) with 11 kills, four aces and six blocks. Taylor Duke added eight kills, two aces, 12 digs and three blocks. Salote Tonga tallied four kills and two blocks
