Girls state volleyball: Fremont, Syracuse advance to final day of tournaments

A basket of volleyballs sits near Fremont High's court on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, in Plain City.Syracuse and Fremont girls volleyball teams have advanced to the final day of their state tournaments after two victories Wednesday at Utah Valley University.
In the 6A tournament, No. 5 Syracuse (22-7) will face No. 1 Skyridge at noon Thursday in the semifinals. The 6A final is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
In the 5A tournament, No. 2 Fremont (28-2) keeps racking up win and got past Brighton and West Field, topping the rival Longhorns in the quarterfinals Wednesday night after West Field beat West in a second-round sweep earlier in the day.
No. 2 Fremont (28-2) advances to face No. 3 Skyline (20-7) at 10 a.m. Thursday. The 5A final is scheduled for 4 p.m.
