The Region 5 boys golf season wrapped up after one round of the season-end region tournament played Monday at Round Valley Golf Course in Morgan. Rain caused the cancellation of a planned second round Tuesday.

Fremont took the team win in Monday’s event, led by Luke Hadley’s medalist round of 67. Kanyon DeRyke and Krew Peterson of Box Elder, and Ethan Luna of West Field, all finished second with a score of 70.

GIRLS SOCCER

DAVIS 1 def. LAYTON 1 (3-1 PKs)

LAYTON — Davis outshot Layton 3-1 on penalty kicks to break a 1-1 draw after full and extra time.

Reial Phongsavath scored for Davis (9-5, 2-4 Region 1) on a Sammy Maudsley assist in the 74th minute. Ryann Jensen converted a penalty kick for Layton (8-8, 2-5 Region 1) in the 75th minute to force extra time.

Phongsavath, Maudsley and Courtney Burbidge each netted for Davis during the shootout while keeper Kaitlyn Harris made two saves.

BOX ELDER 3, FREMONT 2

BRIGHAM CITY — Marley Barber scored the game-winner on an assist from Desarae Elegante in the 34th minute to lead Box Elder past Fremont.

Taylor Nye scored the first two goals for Box Elder (11-5, 9-2 Region 5). Maddison Barber and Halli Wright assisted those scores.

Sierra Schneider netted both goals for Fremont (5-11, 3-8). Jerzee Watson assisted one.

ST. JOSEPH 6, DRAPER APA 0

OGDEN — Addison Doebler kept a clean sheet and Sofia Evans scored five goals as St. Joseph grabbed a region win over Draper APA (7-6, 3-5 Region 17).

Ari Bond also netted for St. Joseph (8-4, 4-2). Caitlin Jones and Ashley Fergus each tallied one assist.

WASHINGTON TERRACE — West Field won in straight sets at Bonneville. Scores were 25-13, 25-21, 25-13.

Ainsley Schiffman paced West Field (13-10, 4-3 Region 5) with 14 digs and three kills. Halia Fonotisatele dished out nine assists and served two aces. Jorie Schiffman served seven aces and had 11 digs. Aliyah Mann added seven assists and three aces.

Bonneville (5-13, 0-8) did not report stats.
