Prep roundup: Dasni helps Layton sweep Weber in baseball series
West Field's Hadley pitches another softball one-hitter
LAYTON — Jowell Dasni hit a home run, a triple and drove in four as Layton High baseball completed a series sweep over Weber with a 9-8 victory Friday.
Zane Morgan and Nik Bielaczyc each batted 2 for 4 with a double and combined for three RBIs for Layton (10-4, 3-0 Region 1). Austin Pritchett got the win in two innings of relief.
Bridger Lopshire batted 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs for Weber (2-12, 0-3). Sam Gerritsen went 3 for 5 and scored three runs.
WEST FIELD 11, BOX ELDER 0
BRIGHAM CITY — Jarett Hill pitched a complete-game three-hitter with four strikeouts as West Field shut out Box Elder in five innings.
Wyatt Penrod batted 3 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored for West Field (10-4, 8-1 Region 5). Hill and Sam Smith each hit a double and a single and drove in one. Tyke Johsnon added a double. Grady Garrett batted 2 for 4 with one RBI and Brady Penland had two hits.
Bryson Wight, Porter Francom and Maddox Earnest got the hits for Box Elder (2-11, 1-5).
CLEARFIELD 10, ROY 4
ROY — Clearfield took a 7-0 lead in the fifth inning and held off Roy for a region road win.
Brady Reynolds batted 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI for Clearfield (7-9, 6-3 Region 5). Brody Mower went 2 for 4 and drove in two. Ethan Reimer hit a two-run double and Drew Bremer hit a double. Reynolds got the win with eight hits, three earned runs, three walks and six strikeouts in a complete game.
Julian Teran hit a two-run triple for Roy (6-10, 2-7). Parker Skidmore and Lincoln Baty each hit two singles. Chase Moran hit an RBI single.
DAVIS 24, SYRACUSE 9
SYRACUSE — Davis took a 14-0 lead before Syracuse batted in a lopsided, five-inning region contest.
Kaleb Weaver hit a two-run home run for Davis (9-7, 3-0 Region 1). Briggs Taylor batted 2 for 2 with a double and four RBIs. Camden Schoenfeld batted 3 for 3 and drove in two. Tyson Baggett hit a two-run triple. Dylan Manning got the win with no hits, one walk and two strikeouts in two innings of work.
Freshman Mason Wolk batted 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, a walk, a hit-by-pitch and four RBIs for Syracuse (1-13, 0-3). Beau Van der Stappen and Frankie Harris each hit an RBI single.

LAYTON — Layton High baseball scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning for a walkoff region win over Weber.
Macie Clark batted 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for Layton (2-12, 2-1 Region 1). Serenity Overton went 2 for 4. Emily Pauni hit an RBI double. Lexie Himle pitched a complete game with seven hits, one earned run, three walks and four strikeouts.
Peyton Barker batted 2 for 4 with a double for Weber (4-8, 1-2). Ari Hillan went 2 for 5 with an RBI. Emily Hayes had two hits and Zoey Solemo hit an RBI single.
WEST FIELD 14, BOUNTIFUL 1
BOUNTIFUL — Hailee Ellsworth and Cam Bell each batted 2 for 4 with a home run as West Field won at Bountiful.

LOGAN — Box Elder scored three runs in the sixth inning to trigger the run rule in a win at Logan.
Kennadie Blackmer batted 2 for 2 with a solo home run, a double and two walks for Box Elder (16-1). Lucy Griffin went 3 for 4 with a double and drove in four. Madeline Jeppsen and Quincey Lish each had three hits and an RBI. Blackmer got the win by striking out 10 while allowing zero runs on one hit.
