SOFTBALL

SYRACUSE 9, FREMONT 6

PLAIN CITY — Syracuse scored eight runs in the fifth inning to flip a 5-1 deficit into a win Wednesday at Fremont.

Oaklee Derrickson hit a three-run triple for Syracuse (8-11). Paizlee Prathan hit two doubles and Eryn Hamblin added a triple. Sophia Knight hit a two-run double. Freshman Abby Jensen pitched a complete game with eight hits and one earned run in the win.

Abigail Valdez hit a two-run home run for Fremont (7-8). Chloe Clark hit two doubles and Cara Henrie added a double.

DAVIS 14, LAYTON 0

Kaysville — Rosalie Hartley and Cambell Christensen combined for a two-hitter as Davis won Wednesday at Layton in a five-inning affair..

Norah Sunderland hit a three-run home run for Davis (14-1, 5-0 Region 1). Christensen batted 3 for 4 with two doubles and drove in three, and gave up one hit with six strikeouts over four innings.

Nora Morrow and Serenity Overton each hit a single for Layton (2-14, 2-3).

BOX ELDER 23, ROY 2

ROY — Box Elder scored 10 runs in the fourth inning to trigger the run rule in a Wednesday win at Roy.

Kennadie Blackmer hit a home run, a double and drove in five for Box Elder (18-1, 7-1 Region 5). Kaila Kaleikini hit a two-run dinger. Kailee Hall batted 3 for 3 with a triple and an RBI. Quincey LIsh went 3 for 3 with two RBIs. Lucy Braegger hit a three-run double and Olivia Daniels added a two-run double. Blackmer pitched two innings and struck out the side both times for the win.

Promise Salazar hit an RBI single for Roy (5-10, 4-6). Lorelai Sherrod hit a double and Kyra Haarala drove in one.

BASEBALL

WEST FIELD 11, SYRACUSE 1

SYRACUSE — Grady Garrett hit two triples and drove in one as West Field won at Syracuse.

Brady Penland batted 3 for 4 and drove in two for West Field (12-4). Wyatt Penrod, Marshal Moon and Jarett Hill each hit an RBI double. Hill got the win with three hits and three strikeouts in four shutout innings.

Daxton Davis had two hits and scored the lone run for Syracuse (1-15). Frankie Harris, Cole Smith and Colsten Thomas each had a hit.

LAYTON 11, DAVIS 1

LAYTON — Layton swept both ends of a Wednesday doubleheader to take first place in the region away from Davis.

In the first game, Layton (12-5, 5-1 Region 1) scored two runs in the fifth inning to trigger the run rule and an 11-1 win. Jowell Dasni hit a two-run home run. Burkon Beus hit an RBI double. Zane Morgan, Nik Bielaczyc and Austin Pritchett each had two hits. Bielaczyc pitched a complete game with one hit and six strikeouts.

Will Nixon hit a single and Kaleb Weaver, who reached on an error, scored for Davis (10-9, 4-2).

LAYTON 10, DAVIS 9

In the nightcap, Layton scored twice in the seventh inning to take the lead for good. Dasni hit another two-run home run. Bielaczyc and Pritchett each hit a double and two singles. Bielaczyc had two RBIs and Pritchett one. Beus hit a double and a single. Hudson Rigby got the win in one inning of relief.

Trigg Wimmer batted 3 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs for Davis. Weaver went 3 for 5 with a double and drove in one. Lincoln Green added three hits.

FREMONT 18, ROY 9

ROY — Fremont scored six runs in the third inning to take an 8-2 lead in a region win Wednesday at Roy.

Bodee Hawkins hit a home run, a double and drove in two for Fremont (10-5, 7-1 Region 5). Adam Mikesell batted 4 for 5 and scored three runs. Ashur Clark went 3 for 4 and drove in three. Calvin Cooper drove in three on a single and a sacrifice fly, and earned the win with seven hits and six strikeouts over four innings.

Logan Vorwaller hit two doubles and drove in two for Roy (6-12, 2-9). Julian Teran added two doubles. Kruz Williams batted 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs.

CLEARFIELD 14, NORTHRIDGE 4

LAYTON — Hank Campbell batted 2 for 3 with a grand slam and scored three runs to lead Clearfield to a five-inning region win Wednesday at Northridge.

Traegan Bertagnolli batted 3 for 3 with two doubles, two RBIs and scored twice for Clearfield (9-9, 8-3 Region 5). Brady Reynolds went 2 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI. Brody Mower batted 2 for 4 with a double and drove in three. Ryan Frei struck out eight and allowed six hits in a complete game.

Eli Mitchell hit a solo home run for Northridge (5-10, 4-4 ). Mick Whitaker batted 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Elijah Ngo hit a double and Nixon Brimley drove in two with a single.

SYRACUSE — Tate Johnston converted a penalty kick with six seconds left in the game to send Weber (7-3, 1-3 Region 1) to a Wednesday win at Syracuse (5-5, 0-4). Brody Noel kept the clan sheet for the Warriors.

FARMINGTON 2, LAYTON 1

LAYTON — Farmington scored twice in the second half in a region win Wednesday at Layton.

Jack Burrup and Dax Patrick netted for Farmington (8-2, 3-1 Region 1). Drake Arnold assisted one score.

Joseph Rudolph scored on a Kyle Lemburg assist for Layton (4-3, 2-2 Region 1)
